    Porter/Janitor – Gotham Gym (West Village, NYC) Location: Gotham Gym, 600 Washington St, New York, NY 10014 Compensation: $17 - $18 per hour - merit raises frequently Schedule: Rotating shifts, part-time Growth Opportunity: Potential for full-time employment based on performance About Gotham Gym: Gotham Gym is a premier boxing and fitness facility known for its high-energy environment, elite training, and sleek aesthetic. Cleanliness and efficiency are at the core of our gym experience, ensuring that every visitor walks into a pristine facility at all times. Position Overview: We are seeking detail-oriented, proactive, and fast-moving Porters/Janitors to uphold the gym’s cleanliness and presentation standards. This role is critical in ensuring a seamless experience for members by keeping all areas—including the gym floor, locker rooms, restrooms, and common spaces—immaculately clean, well-stocked, and fully operational. Key Responsibilities: • Maintain cleanliness of gym equipment, training areas, and common spaces throughout the day, • Regularly restock towels, soap, paper products, and other supplies, • Swiftly clean up spills, debris, and any immediate maintenance needs, • Ensure locker rooms, showers, and restrooms are spotless and fully stocked at all times, • Assist with light maintenance tasks and report any facility issues, • Regular checks of fitness equipment for safety and cleanliness, • Work efficiently and with urgency to maintain the gym’s polished, high-end atmosphere, • Laundry when needed, • Event set-up/breakdown, sometimes after normal business hours, • Comfortable on ladders up to 8ft, • Delivery and drop off in the city of packages when needed, • Weekly deep cleaning of the gym with use of commercial floor stripper, • Organization of storage cages, and on site storage maintenance Ideal Candidate: • Works well in a fast-paced environment and understands the importance of urgency, • Enjoys jumping in to assist other departments when needed, • Takes pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and professional space, • Has prior experience in janitorial, porter, or maintenance roles (preferred but not required), • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs, • Thrives in high pressure situations, • Reliable, punctual, and committed to upholding high standards of cleanliness

    Job description: 5th Ave Fitness is a boutique personal training studio in Park Slope/Gowanus looking for certified personal trainers to join our team. We're a small, client-focused gym where trainers actually get to know their clients—not a revolving door of members you'll never see twice. WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT: W2 employment (not 1099) — We handle your taxes, you get unemployment protection Guaranteed pay during scheduled blocks — Even if a client cancels, you still get paid admin rate No sales quotas — We do the selling. You do the training. Small client roster — Quality over quantity. You'll actually remember everyone's name. Team environment — Trainers collaborate, cover for each other, and share best practices Clear advancement path — Performance reviews, merit raises COMPENSATION: Training sessions: $30-35/hr (entry) Admin time: $18-20/hr (during scheduled blocks) Buddy sessions: $44-46.25/hr Paid sick leave (1 hr per 30 hrs worked) Quarterly performance bonuses SCHEDULE: We use a 3-hour block system. You commit to specific blocks each week (e.g., Mon/Wed/Fri 7-10am). During your blocks, you train clients and handle admin duties. We need coverage especially during: Morning peak: 7am-10am (Mon-Fri) Evening peak: 5pm-8pm (Mon-Fri) Weekends: 9am-3pm Minimum commitment: 2-3 blocks per week (6-9 hours). Ideal: 15-25 hours/week. Currently prioritizing weeknight and weekend availability REQUIREMENTS: Current personal training certification (NASM, ACE, NSCA, ACSM, ISSA, or equivalent) CPR/AED certification (or willing to obtain before start) 1+ years training experience preferred (recent grads with strong practicum considered) Reliable, punctual, and professional Genuinely enjoy helping people who are new to fitness BONUS POINTS: Experience with beginners or deconditioned populations Knowledge of corrective exercise or injury prevention Comfortable with older adults (40+) Available for morning peak hours (7-10am) or evening peak hours (5pm - 8pm) TO APPLY: Submit your resume and a brief note about why you want to work at a small studio vs. a big-box gym.
