American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Prescott, Arizona. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 01/13/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in an acute care hospital float pool covering Med/Surg, Telemetry, PCU, and holding patients in ED across two campuses, • Patient population includes geriatric, orthopedic, post-MI, post-cardiac cath, CABG post-op day 3-4, and patients from a strong cath lab program, • Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 in PCU and 1:5-6 in Med/Surg Tele, • RNs required to titrate and manage drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin, • Use of Cerner EMR system, • Night shifts, 12 hours, with every other weekend required, • First to float within float pool; will be notified 2 hours prior to shift regarding campus assignment, • Floating to all related units as needed, including inpatient holding in ED, • Monitor techs monitor PCU and Med/Surg Tele; RNs must be able to interpret telemetry strips, • CPAP and BiPAP utilized at night in Med/Surg; BiPAP, CPAP, and Heated High Flow used in PCU, • No on-call or standby requirements, • Travelers may be assigned to either campus with a 20–25 minute distance between sites, • Team includes dedicated charge nurses not assigned to patient care and consistent use of nurse aides in all settings, • Scheduling is handled by a float pool scheduler with schedules published six weeks out, • Travelers participate in holiday rotation alongside permanent staff, • Orientation includes hospital-wide introduction and unit-specific shadow shifts, • Solid color professional scrubs required; navy scrubs required beginning in October, • Travelers expected to be flexible with assignments, including block scheduling for nights when possible, • Travelers must pass a sterile technique test for Foley and central line care on first orientation day, • If a candidate fails required testing twice, they will be ineligible for six months at CommonSpirit Arizona/Sacramento, • First-time travelers will be considered\n \n Requirements\n, • Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted, • BLS and ACLS certifications required and must be current, • Minimum of 2 years RN experience with at least 1 year in a PCU setting, • Comfortable managing the majority of common drips on unit; must be able to titrate independently, • Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips, • Must pass dysrhythmia exam (minimum 80%) within two attempts prior to contract signature, • Must provide two references: one supervisor from last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire, • Driver’s license copy required for consideration, • Cannot have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, PRN) at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year, • Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
