Job DescriptionChemical Technician Pay rate: $22.00 Under the direction of the Chemist, responsible for generating routine assay data at a laboratory in support of exploration, mining, leaching, SXEW process, and cathode production.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Exhibit 100% dedication to safe work practices 100% of the time in the laboratory., • Help ensure environmental compliance in the Laboratory., • Be able to effectively multitask in a high-workload, fast-paced lab environment., • Plan and control analytical work to effectively utilize resources with minimal or no direction., • Effectively and efficiently manage and report data., • Organize, weigh, digest, dilute, and assay blast hole samples as required for total copper determination., • Identify parts, materials, supplies, and equipment required to ensure continuous operation., • Assist as directed with analysis of blast hole samples for sequential acid-soluble/cyanide soluble copper determination., • Handle laboratory cleanup and routine reagent preparation as needed/directed., • Maintain required training in environmental, health/safety awareness., • Ensure all MSHA requirements are met and help review and update all laboratory safety procedures as required.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES, • Technical knowledge of mining, leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning processes is highly desirable., • Competent in routine laboratory techniques and common laboratory equipment used for blast hole analysis, and aqueous SXEW sample analyses are highly desirable., • Familiarity with common sample preparation techniques used in support of mining operations is highly desirable., • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with employees, other supervisors, and managers., • Must have excellent computer skills., • Must have a valid driver’s license.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, • AA Degree in Chemistry or Metallurgy, or a high school diploma with one year of minimum experience in a mining/production laboratory., • Experience with general laboratory techniques, MS Office, and data entry.
