___Job ID85225 LocationSacramento Full/Part TimeFull Time ______ #CA-DS This Pharmacy Technician 2 position is an integral member of the healthcare team and is responsible for providing drug dispensing and distribution activities, compounding prescriptions, maintaining pharmacy robotics, inventory management, prescription billing, processing payments for prescriptions and training other personnel. This position fosters excellent interdepartmental relationships and provides quality and cost-effective pharmaceutical care to all patients. *Must be able to work and travel to ALL Outpatient pharmacies listed in this Position Description. Apply By Date 4/4/2026 at 11:59pm PST Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position. • California Licensed Pharmacy Technician, • At least 2-years of Outpatient Pharmacy experience, working as a Pharmacy Technician, • Working knowledge of current third-party insurances, Medicare Part B and California State Medicaid., • Knowledge of current California Pharmacy Law., • Working knowledge of pharmacy terminology, generic/brand name drugs and abbreviations., • Working knowledge of billing and submitting authorization requests for State funded insurance programs., • Ability to accurately perform pharmacy calculations., • Experience working in an Outpatient Pharmacy or UC Health setting (within the last 2 years)., • Experience and knowledge in Sterile and Non-Sterile Compounding., • Experience with Pharmacy EPIC dispensing systems or EPIC EMR., • Knowledge and Capability of Sterile and Non-Sterile Compounding., • Working knowledge of current Medi-Cal Formulary and other third-party billing systems., • Working knowledge within a UC Health Outpatient Pharmacy., • Ability to recognize situations that exceed technician authority and ability and must be referred to a pharmacist for resolution., • Problem-solving skills to independently recognize and define a problem and identify the resources available to help solve the problem., • Ability to independently create and implement viable solutions and follow through to ensure the problem is resolved., • Ability to exercise discretion to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained, and a professional, respectful clinic/department environment exists at all times., • Ability to impart knowledge and develop the skills of students participating in training programs, as well as new hires and staff seeking additional opportunities., • Working knowledge of and skill to apply practices, principles and techniques of patient care related to area of expertise., • 75% - Drug Distribution UC Davis Health is a nationally recognized leader in the provision of high-quality, patient-centered care, based in the Greater Sacramento area of Northern California. We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs. UC Davis Health Outpatient pharmacies emphasize patient care in Hospital Discharge, Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Ambulatory Care, Employee Health and Specialty Pharmacy. Our pharmacies are responsible for screening prescriptions for appropriateness and making interventions, preparing medications for dispensing, distribution activities, providing immunizations and providing patient consultations. Staff are responsible for appropriate prescription billing to multiple payers including third party insurances, Medicaid, Medicare D and Medicare B plans. Our pharmacies maintain compliance with multiple accrediting bodies and with State and Federal Laws and Regulations. The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.
