American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Intermediate Care for a travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Intermediate Care, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 06/08/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Days, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Jun 8, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • IMC/Stepdown/PCU unit within a 562-bed Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital, • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM), • Every other weekend required, • Floating within scope is required, including to nearby affiliate hospitals, • No on-call responsibilities, • Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred), • Patient population includes cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, respiratory, renal, and post-surgical casesRequirements, • Active IL RN license required — pending licensure not accepted, • Required certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); ACLS preferred, • AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI AHA cards are not accepted, • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required, • Required setting experience: Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, • Required cardiac monitoring skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and Rapid Response Team utilization, • Required cardiovascular skills: Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, and TR Band, • Required IV/vascular skills: port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care, • Required medication skills: Heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management (including titration), PCA, and procedural sedation administration, • Required neurological case experience: CVA, TBI, craniotomy, spinal cord injury, and pre/post neurosurgery, • Required respiratory skills: ventilated patient care, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management, • Required GI/GU experience: feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, and renal failure, • Required orthopedic experience: ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and peripheral nerve block catheters, • Additional required skills: wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions, skin grafts, and surgical drain management, • Teaching hospital experience preferred, • Level I Trauma experience preferred, • SSN and DOB required for considerationAdditional Information, • Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma center environment, • Magnet-designated facility, • Any solid scrub color is acceptable, • Parking is available at no cost with a permit (form completed during orientation), • RTO of up to 5 days is generally accommodated; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval, • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays, • Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler, • Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility, • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
