Responsibilities • Functions as a laboratory professional who performs specimen collection techniques or specimen collection instructions that include; venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction and specimen culture collection instruction, • Promotes professionalism and interacts with colleagues in a way that promotes a cooperative working environment., • Ensure specimens are obtained in accordance with laboratory guidelines., • Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care provider., • Supports organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards., • Attains required competency and demonstrates the ability to follow procedural directions and protocols., • Able to prioritize and organize workload and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity., • Follows proper protocols for specimen packaging and specimen transport., • Responsible for specimen accessioning as assigned., • Demonstrates proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, performs proper prompt specimen transport., • Performs proper drug screen collection and processing as assigned., • Answers laboratory department phone calls., • Demonstrates ability to recognize emergent conditions and reacts appropriately., • Provides phlebotomy services in a professional and patient centered manner., • Engages in self-evaluation of practice and takes action to improve knowledge and skills. Job Requirements: • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy
