The organization is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care across a full spectrum of medical specialties while fostering a mission-driven culture of quality, dignity, and community service.In this role, you will be responsible for educating and auditing health information management practices to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality of clinical documentation and coding. You will collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to identify opportunities for improvement, support training initiatives, and help maintain regulatory and accreditation standards across the health system.Role & Responsibility:Tasks That Will Lead to Your Success • Completes weekly audits, sharing results with Physicians, Clinic Staff, Educator/Analyst and associates, Compliance Officer, and Finance Leadership when applicable., • Develops plan for education based on audit results and re-audit to assure compliance., • Prepares communication and provides the necessary in-service education for coding updates in conjunction with Coding/Clinic Managers, Physicians and CDEI Educator., • Recommends coding policy and procedure changes based on coding reviews and workflow assessments., • Evaluates compliance with the new or revised coding policy to assure coding accuracy and consistency., • Works with consultant for site visit/schedules, exit education sessions for Coding, MD’s and CDEI associates., • Review of consultant reports to identify in-service education opportunities and shares with Director of Coding Integrity and Health Information, Coding Managers, Education Supervisors and Finance Leadership, Care Management, and Compliance as appropriate., • Development and implementation of educational programs to meet the needs of company and team., • Review of CDIS reports to identify opportunities for coding and/ or documentation improvement., • Participates in Corporate Coding Meetings at least quarterly., • Attends coding meetings and provides input., • Stays abreast of any advances or changes in the field and schedules educational program for associates, • Redesign of outpatient referred coding, increased Coding Manager responsibility, oversight of certified coders on the front end of the Revenue Cycle., • Responsibility for the MedHost EDIS Toolkit and documentation as it relates to coding., • Develops and shares knowledge regarding data capture and collection and its impact on reimbursement, clinical outcome measurement., • Stays informed of all local Medicare guidelines., • Knows there is a company compliance program., • Verbalizes potential non-compliant risk areas within job duties and/or department., • Verbalizes duty to report potential or actual non-compliant concerns and types of reporting mechanisms available.Skills & ExperienceQualifications That Will Help You Thrive, • RHIT, or CCS is required., • Associate’s degree in Health Information Technology preferred., • Medical terminology course required., • In lieu of an associate’s degree, a candidate with at least five (5) years of Health Information department experience and medical terminology may be considered., • Five (5) years of coding experience utilizing electronic encoders/references, and compliance software, is required., • Evidence of coding competency., • Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS (E/M), anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, APC’s, and Outpatient referred coding requirements., • Partner with and across Teams. Demonstrated ability to work closely with CH associates, medical staff, Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) leadership and staff, department managers, and Finance., • Superior written and interpersonal communication skills., • Proven track record to develop/maintain policies and procedures., • Drive Performance. Professional skills related to leading by example, organization, prioritization, organizational integration and coordination. Takes action and is proactive, addressing problems and coding/compliance issues head-on, solution-oriented., • Visual acuity for oversight of computer encoders, groupers, on-line references, Electronic Health Record., • Demonstrated proficiency with computers, software, hardware and technological advances., • Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency to generate reports and collect data., • Problem solving. Excellent analytical skills.
