Job Description Position Title: ESOL Teacher (Adult Education) Supervisor: Director of Education Status: Full-time, 35 hours per week, hourly, non-exempt Location: Lackawanna NY and Buffalo, NY Job Description The full time ESOL Teacher provides high-quality instruction within an adult education program, serving adult English language learners across multiple proficiency levels. This position includes afternoon instruction in Lackawanna for a beginner-intermediate ESOL literacy class four days a week with the potential to teach remotely, focusing on foundational English language skills and literacy development. In the evenings, the instructor will lead an in-person class focused on high intermediate-advanced ESOL GED preparation two days a week, integrating English language instruction with history, science, and math concepts aligned with GED standards. Job Responsibilities • Plan and deliver engaging evening ESOL/GED preparation lessons for high intermediate-advanced adult English language learners., • Integrate English instruction with GED-related content, including history, science, and math., • Adapt instruction to meet diverse language proficiency levels and learning needs, • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback., • Maintain accurate attendance, assessments, and instructional records., • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and encouraging classroom environment., • Collaborate with program staff as needed to support student success., • Use assessment data and reflection to refine curriculum and change instructional practices and support grant/funding requirements., • Create a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment in a diverse classroom with high expectations that encourage student responsibility and enhance motivation., • Attend all staff meetings and common JERS responsibilities., • Reliable transportation required., • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with two years’ experience., • Valid New York State Teacher certification preferred., • TABE Test and BEST Plus Administrator preferred., • Demonstrated experience teaching ESOL and GED preparation, both in person and remotely, preferably in adult education setting., • Ability to work effectively with adult learners from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
