    PERC Shelter – Kitchen Helper Job Description Summary: The Kitchen Helper supports the kitchen workers in preparing and serving meals for up to 150 individuals in an emergency shelter and soup kitchen. This role assists with food prep, cleaning, organization, and ensures a safe and sanitary kitchen environment. Responsibilities: • Assist with preparing and serving daily meals, including lunch, dinner and snacks support, • Help with basic food prep such as chopping, assembling meals, and portioning, • Package, label, and store meals properly for refrigeration or freezing, • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, pantry, and dining areas, • Organize and restock pantry and kitchen supplies, • Assist with inventory tracking alongside kitchen staff, • Support use of leftovers and donated food for meal preparation, • Work with volunteers during meal prep and service, • Ensure kitchen rules are followed, including no client access to the kitchen, • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, • Some food service or kitchen experience preferred, but not required, • Willingness to learn food safety practices and procedures, • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, • Strong teamwork and communication skills, • Comfortable working with volunteers and diverse populations, • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks efficiently, • Flexible schedule, including weekends or evenings as needed

    Program Overview: The Support and Connection Center provides 24/7 short stay, engagement, stabilization, and treatment services for adults with mental health and/or substance use issues referred directly by NYPD as an alternative to the traditional police responses of arrest, summons, or transport to an emergency room. Guests are referred to the Center when their infractions are non-violent and/or low-level offenses such as loitering, trespass, public inebriation, and disorderly conduct. The goal of the Center is to help guests begin to identify and modify the behaviors that result in repeated police contact. An OASAS licensed outpatient clinic, located on site, provides services to guests who are eligible. The maximum length of stay is 5 days. Overall Responsibilities: Under the general direction of the Assistant Program Director, the Clinical Team Lead conducts rapid assessments, engages guests in wellness, discharge, and aftercare planning, and facilitates linkages to community-based services and residential settings. The team lead also oversees a team of CASAC's and Peers and is responsible for the delegation of tasks to the team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties of the Clinical Team Lead include but are not limited to the following activities: · Provides direct care to guests through conducting rapid assessments to identify the full range of service needs and safety planning · As the primary counselor for a designated caseload - collaborates with the full on-site team to ensure coordination of care, individual counseling, treatment planning through targeted case management, and discharge planning · Promotes dignity-based care to reduce the negative effects of drug use for individuals at various stages of recovery · Models best practice, person centered, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented engagement skills for team · Counsel’s guests through individualized and group therapy sessions on issues such as wellness self-management, and community integration skills · Excellent verbal communication skills including an ability to have open and affirming conversations about health, sex and substance use risk. · Identifies and makes referrals for community-based treatment and support services. · Participates and facilitates daily team meetings · Inputs guest information and updates into the facility’s case management software system, ensuring all data is accurate and entered in a timely fashion · Promotes the professional development of supervisees through supervision, professional coaching, and training · Anticipates the needs of the clinical team they lead and executes Qualifications: LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LP or master’s level counselor with CASAC (All MSW, MHC, PC candidates must obtain NYS license within 6 months from date of hire) · A minimum of four (4) years of experience working with homeless and criminal justice involved individuals with either a diagnosis of mental illness or a substance use disorder, including experience in emergency or crisis services · Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds · The ability to work well in a highly pressured environment set and meets deadlines and delegate as appropriate · Strong communication and problem-solving skills, and ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders to understand and incorporate diverse points of view, styles, and approaches · An ability to lead, collaborate, and interface with guests as well as all levels of staff · Proficiency in case management software, electronic health records, and Microsoft Office Suite · A minimum of excellent oral, writing, and listening skills All newly hired Project Renewal staff must provide verification of being full

    Seeking a dedicated Full-Time Building Manager to oversee the operations of our multi-use institutional and commercial facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in plant operations, personnel management, and vendor coordination, with appropriate certifications. Prior work history within a religious institution or school environment is preferred. Responsibilities: • Supervise 5 full-time custodial staff and manage third-party vendors., • Provide hands-on assistance with infrastructure, grounds-keeping maintenance, repair, and housekeeping., • Schedule, perform, and report required inspections and testing for life-safety and infrastructure features., • Coordinate with staff, congregants, and third-party services (security, caterers) for various events, including religious services, education programs, guest speakers, and performances, ensuring proper arrangement of seating, tables, A-V equipment, and food service., • Solicit vendor bids, track operational expenses, manage purchasing, and allocate budget resources., • Maintain organized building records for contracts, guarantees, inspections, and permits., • Manage logistics for supplies and equipment, both on-site and off-site, and coordinate on-site activities for third-parties. Work Hours: • Weekdays, with occasional pre-scheduled days and times for religious services and special events., • Availability for emergency services is required as needed, during other days and times. Our Landmarked 1859 building, free-standing and sited on a ¼ acre landscaped property, is of masonry and heavy timber construction, with three full stories, plus occupiable cellar and attic, encompassing some 15,000 square feet. Infra-structure consists of environmental conditioning by oil-fired steam boiler and multiple forced-air ventilation systems providing heating and cooling via steam radiators and re-heat coils, electric re-heat coils, exterior and interior split-compressor refrigeration coils, and by separate mini-spilt-system air cooling units. A single domestic and fire water service is connected to municipal supply. Domestic and storm water plumbing and drainage is by gravity and ejector systems discharging at municipal sewer. Building is fully sprinklered and equipped with central station fire alarm service. ConEd provides line-voltage electric service for power distribution and lighting; a UPS supports emergency lighting and signage. A lighting control system serves the main sanctuary. Low-voltage IT and audio-visual systems extend throughout the building, and a local and central station monitored security system serves the grounds and building - door control devices are connected to the fire control system. Vertical circulation is provided by one hydraulic elevator and two LULA lifts. Uses for the building and grounds include, but are not limited to, religious services on week-ends, holidays and festivals, a week-day nursery school, after school classes for children up to 13 years, afternoon and evening adult education, staff offices, daytime and evening committee and community meetings, a seasonal overnight homeless shelter, and life-cycle events for weddings, etc. Building typically operates 6-7 pays per week, 8 am to 10 pm.
