Job DescriptionJob Summary: The Supervisor - Fire Inspector provides leadership and technical oversight to the Fire Protection Shop while performing advanced fire inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair activities. This role ensures the integrity, compliance, and operational readiness of all fire detection, protection, and suppression systems at the William J. Hughes Technical Center. The William J. Hughes Technical Center for Advanced Aerospace's normal hours of operation (NHO) are 6:00 A.M. through 6:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Supervise, assign, and review the work of Fire Inspectors and related personnel in the Fire Protection Shop., • Perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of fire detection, protection, and suppression systems., • Ensure all activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local fire codes, regulations, and safety standards., • Develop, implement, and maintain fire safety policies, procedures, and preventive maintenance schedules., • Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to subordinate staff., • Review inspection reports, documentation, and records for accuracy and completeness., • Coordinate fire-protection projects and collaborate with other departments and external agencies., • Respond to fire-safety incidents and provide on-site technical support., • Participate in emergency drills, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives., • Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance, training, and compliance activities.Qualifications and Special Requirements:, • Must possess a valid New Jersey State Fire Official License to act as fire inspectors for the Technical Center., • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience with inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of fire detection, protection, and suppression systems, with demonstrated supervisory or lead experience preferred., • Contractor personnel who perform maintenance on Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS)-containing fire suppression systems are required to be trained following 40 CFR 82., • Proven ability to lead a team in a unionized environment while maintaining hands-on technical expertise.This job description maintains uniformity with the previously prepared postings for consistency across your HR documentation.
