About the Role We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Hydrogen Station Field Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of hydrogen refueling stations. This hands-on field position is ideal for candidates with experience in mechanical maintenance, industrial instrumentation, controls, or field service operations. The successful candidate will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, ensure station uptime, and provide professional customer support while maintaining the highest safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Station Operations & Response • Perform daily inspections, operational checks, and maintenance activities at assigned hydrogen refueling stations., • Monitor station performance and respond to alarms, faults, and equipment issues., • Support station uptime through timely troubleshooting and corrective actions. Maintenance • Maintain compressors, cryogenic pumps, valves, storage systems, dispensers, cooling systems, and related equipment., • Conduct leak checks, filter replacements, and preventive maintenance activities., • Identify and report equipment degradation, reliability concerns, and performance issues. Instrumentation & Controls • Monitor pressures, temperatures, flow rates, levels, hydrogen detection systems, equipment status, and alarms., • Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain transmitters, sensors, gas detection systems, control valves, electrical components, PLC/HMI interfaces, motors, and relays., • Assist with calibration, diagnostics, and system verification activities. Troubleshooting & Reliability • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and operational issues., • Perform field repairs and coordinate specialized repairs when required., • Recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and station performance. Documentation • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, work orders, operating data, alarms, and troubleshooting efforts using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)., • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and on time. Safety & Communication • Follow all safety procedures, policies, and regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements., • Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist., • Communicate station status, maintenance activities, and repair updates with customers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams. Required Qualifications • Minimum 1 year of hands-on maintenance, field service, industrial operations, or related technical experience, or equivalent technical training., • Experience with mechanical systems such as compressors, pumps, valves, storage systems, dispensers, or industrial equipment., • Experience with industrial instrumentation and controls, including transmitters, sensors, alarms, PLCs, and HMIs., • Experience working with low- and medium-voltage electrical equipment, motors, and relays., • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, technical manuals, and equipment specifications., • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills., • Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices., • Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic instruments, computers, and electronic work-order systems., • Strong verbal and written communication skills., • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel between assigned sites and work rotating schedules, including weekends. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with hydrogen refueling infrastructure, compressed gas systems, industrial gas operations, or alternative-fuel facilities., • Experience with gas detection systems, control valves, telemetry, remote diagnostics, and PLC/HMI platforms., • Experience with leak detection, instrument calibration, high-pressure tubing and fittings, or electrical troubleshooting., • Experience using CMMS software., • Familiarity with NFPA 2 and SAE J2601 standards., • Technical degree, trade certification, military technical training, or equivalent industry certification. Physical Requirements • Ability to wear required PPE and carry gas-detection equipment., • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and digital maintenance systems., • Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, lift equipment, and stand for extended periods., • Ability to travel between assigned facilities and respond to onsite service requirements as needed.
