Job Description Role and Responsibilities • Ability to Set-Up & Tear Down- SMT Machines, • Knowledge of safety and operation of Pick-n-Place machines per WI or equipment manual., • Ability Load feeders according to setup sheet using WI or machine manual., • Understand feeder sizes and pitches, • Component Identification knowledge, • Oversee and confirm Traveler & BOM revs match, • Determine which SMT line product will be run, • Load program on machine(s), • Print out documentation for job incl. set-up sheets, • Ability to run entire SMT lines independently; startup, loading recipe, adjusting conveyor belt, production runs, shutdown, and alarms for pick & Place, AOI , Inspection and X-Ray equipment, • Debug and program Pick & Place Programs-add, create fiducial images- advance programming changes, • Makes minor machine adjustments such as placement of parts, measurement of components and change or correct package size, clears machine jams., • Notifies Engineering team or maintenance mechanic of machine malfunctions, • Records production information such as production levels, machine downtime, and defects., • Understand solder paste print process and solder paste properties, • Knowledge of inspection process, inspect one section at a time, looking at component placement, orientation, polarity, value and missing parts, • Visually inspect assembly for obvious damage, non-conformance, cleanliness, component mounting and installation, and soldering quality, If defect found determine the cause and remedy, develop plan to keep defects from recurring, • Routes defective boards to repair department, • Ensure highest level Quality for department Supervisory Responsibilities • Ensures adequate planning and resources for all deadlines, inventory, production and quality standards, • Implements tactical changes to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and increase quality of product., • Analyze and resolve problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor., • Provides status updates, presentations and reports as necessary to support the production line., • Partners with other managers, supervisors and leads to ensure resolution of any outstanding issues affecting quality., • Executes and coordinates employee training to ensure that all processes, procedures and work instructions are completed according to instruction. Ensure that adequately trained recourses are available for all on-going work., • Ensures all processes and procedures are performed as written and updates documentation as required., • Mentors and coaches’ employees to support career development, provide training opportunities, and support individual and team growth., • Fosters continual improvement and a culture that engages employees to improve operations through the use of technology, process and tools., • Utilizes manufacturing best practices tools including lean principles, total quality management, and six sigma., • Ensure that all assignments are performed in compliance with all compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Provincial and Company safety and health regulations, and where applicable, proper personal protective equipment is utilized. Qualifications and Requirements • Highschool diploma, • 5-8+ years’ experience in contract electronics manufacturing and 2-4 years related supervisory experience and/or training., • Able to track and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with several simultaneous projects., • Able to work with minimal supervision., • Able to supervise and manage a small team to keep them on task and schedule., • Hands-on experience in electronics manufacturing and SMT assembly. Experience with specific equipment e.g.,Mydata, Samsung, Mycronic, Fuji, Panasonic., • In-depth understanding of SMT processes, components, and equipment, including pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and automated optical inspection (AOI) systems. Familiarity with industrial standards (IPC) required., • Leadership and management, Strong leadership skills are essential for managing a team, motivating employees, and fostering a positive work environment., • A proactive approach to problem-solving and root cause analysis is necessary to address production issues and implement effective solutions., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed to interact with team members, management, management, and other departments., • bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field preferred, extensive experience can substitute. IPC certifications (e.g., IPC-A-610) highly valued., • Computer proficiency, general computer skills, including experience with MS Office and knowledge of ERP or manufacturing execution systems Additional Notes This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production lines, ensuring efficient production of printed circuit boards (PCBs) by managing proper staff levels, optimizing machine performance, maintaining quality standards, and implementing process improvements. SMT Supervisors manage the day to day operations of an area of production. This includes managing the production schedule, trouble-shooting product issues, handling personnel management functions, such as training and performance management. The area supervisor must be knowledgeable of all processes & job functions within the department.
