Job Description Position Overview As an Associate Director of Risk Analytics in the Credit Planning team at Mitsubishi HC Capital America, INC. (MHCA), you will play a leadership role in advancing the capabilities and maturity of Credit Planning - the firm’s strategic Risk Management function. This is a risk policy and analytics role, performing credit risk analyses in order to inform and build more optimized credit policies and better manage the risk/reward tradeoff. Commitment to Internal Control: This position is required to possess a comprehensive understanding of and adhere to the system of internal controls associated with the fundamental duties and responsibilities of the role. This includes compliance with SOX and all other pertinent regulatory and compliance policies and requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position will be specifically (but not exclusively) tasked with managing the Canadian portfolio; however, the position will also work on American portfolios (and other team members may also work on the Canadian portfolio). Although it is for the Canadian portfolio, this position does not have to be physically located in Canada, instead it may work out of several MHCA sites across North America, including sites in both Canada (Toronto, Montreal, Tres Rivers) and the USA (Chicago, Norwalk Connecticut, Minneapolis, Dallas, etc.). Credit Planning is responsible for aspects such as: • Buy Boxes/Strike Zones, • Credit Scores – including score cut-offs, • Model Risk Management, • Risk Based Pricing, • Setting Maximum Exposure Guidelines / Concentration Limits, • Collateral Guidelines and Credit Term analysis, • Portfolio Analytics, • Loss Forecasting, • Automated Decisioning, • Approval Processing Metrics, • Portfolio Optimization As a senior member of the department, this individual will have ownership of several of the above areas for the Canadian MHCA organization, as well as having a strong supporting leadership voice in projects not specifically owned by this individual. This individual will express leadership presence across both the Credit Planning team as well as the broader Management Team of MHCA, expressing risk-based concerns, and being a risk-ambassador to other teams. This position will provide leadership to other members of the Credit Planning team, expressing vision, guiding their work, and stretching their understandings of Risk Management. All members of the Credit Planning Team will be positive, focused and detail-oriented, responsible with a sense of ownership, excellent communicators who can clearly and concisely articulate (verbally, in writing and in presentations) problems, solutions and concepts, team players, and possessing of strong multi-tasking and negotiating skills. The above characteristics are expected to be exemplified by this position for the benefit of more junior team members. Key Performance Indicators: • Implement and Update credit buy-box analytics, ensuring that MHCA is decisioning the various credit segments in an optimized manner (approve/decline decisions, as well as structuring decisions)., • Provide Senior Leadership and direction to the entire Credit Planning team (both direct reports and to other members), ensuring that the team fulfills its responsibilities and mission. Responsibility and Decision-Making Authority: • Act independently; Decision-making within Company Policy. Management/Supervisory Responsibilities: • Work with Business Process owners to maximize efficiencies and minimize risk Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Able to set and maintain objectives, goals and deliverables for self and group, • Strong project management skills. Ability to focus, stay in scope and lead a group to a successful outcome, • Prior experience turning data into metrics and ultimately actionable analytics, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact and engage with a diverse audience (executives, managers, and subject matter experts), • Technical understanding of database data models, data mining and data segmentation techniques, • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Vision and PowerPoint. Ability to build dashboards with tools such as Board, experienced with data-manipulation tools such as SAP Business Objects, SAS, Python and SQL, • Strong analytical and statistical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information, including time series analysis, with attention to detail and accuracy, • Ability to work independently, pursuing new business development and opportunities, reviewing, and collaborating with senior leadership, • Outstanding problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify issues and find workable solutions, • Able to manage multiple projects/processes under tight concurrent deadlines Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Master’s Degree or PhD preferred (preferred area of study - Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Information Management or Statistics)., • 10 to 12 + years of specific risk management experience. Working Hours: • Typical business hours – 40-45+ hours per week. Occasional work outside of normal business hours depending on business needs. Travel: • Occasional travel required Physical Demands: • Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment, • Light lifting and carrying of supplies, files, etc., • Ability to speak to and hear customers and/or other employees via phone or in person, • Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move from one office location to another The job description does not constitute an employment contract, implied or otherwise, other than an “at will” relationship and is subject to change by the employer as the needs of the employer and requirements of the job change. The position is exempt and the salary will be between $96,200.00 and $122,000.00 with an opportunity to earn a discretionary annual bonus. The salary range is determined and based on internal equity, market data/ranges, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience and education.
