Job Description Rising Sun Center for Opportunity is hiring a Program Associate to support the Opportunity Build team. This position is responsible for entering, tracking and analyzing participant data, supporting classroom management, and coordinating program events. The Program Associate reports directly to the Director of Opportunity Build and works closely with the Opportunity Build team. Opportunity Build is a certified Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3) apprenticeship readiness program that provides a pathway out of poverty for adults through high-road careers in the union construction trades. This includes educating new hires on data entry protocols, reporting procedures, data privacy guidelines, and the effective use of all relevant data platforms, ensuring consistency and accuracy across the team., • Gathering extensive research and data to inform and support program enhancements and the development of new initiatives. This includes analyzing trends, identifying best practices, and collecting information that can lead to innovative approaches and improvements in program delivery and participant outcomes., • Successfully coordinate and implement four Opportunity Build cohorts per year, ensuring timely and effective program delivery., • Manage classroom operations to ensure a safe, calm, and supportive environment, addressing any disruptions in line with program policies., • Enforce program rules and policies, fostering accountability among participants., • Coordinate with the Director of Opportunity Build and manage schedules for classroom instructors and independent contractors., • Develop and manage the cohort calendar, scheduling site visits, partner presentations, and field trips in collaboration with external partners., • Working in close collaboration with the Opportunity Build team to oversee and facilitate all classroom-based activities, ensuring a productive and engaging experience for participants., • Manage the Opportunity Build training curriculum to ensure high-quality program delivery, operational consistency, and measurable trainee outcomes. Oversee the alignment of classroom instruction with established program standards by maintaining accurate schedules, tracking instructional hours, and ensuring that each cohort completes all required subject areas and competency benchmarks., • Encompassing critical administrative tasks such as meticulously taking attendance for all sessions and activities, preparing and printing necessary handouts and program materials, and ensuring all required technology (e.g., projectors, computers, audio equipment, smartboard, & VR) is set up and fully functional before each session., • Welcoming and assisting all visitors and guest speakers, ensuring they feel comfortable and have the resources needed for their presentations., • Actively covering and supporting during a wide array of program activities beyond regular classroom hours. This includes assisting with coordinating and supervising educational field trips, and providing on-site support during classroom presentations and workshops. The Program Associate will be a visible and reliable presence, ready to assist with any unforeseen issues or participant needs during these events., • Maintaining an organized and functional classroom space is another crucial aspect of this role. This involves regularly tidying and organizing the physical learning environment, ensuring all materials are stored efficiently, and proactively identifying and ordering necessary classroom materials and supplies to prevent shortages., • Coordinating bi-weekly Opportunity Build team meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, facilitation, and detailed note-taking., • Orchestrating key program events like graduations, networking events, and new participant breakfasts, vital for community building and fostering connections., • Developing and executing the overall event schedule, ensuring smooth operations and objective achievement., • Overseeing all logistical aspects of events, including venue, catering, speakers, decorations, technology, and staff coordination., • Creating event invitations, signage, and outreach materials; manage guest lists for efficient check-in., • Coordinating with program leadership and communications staff to promote events and ensure alumni are aware and invited., • Intermediate-level (at a minimum) Excel and Google Sheets skills and have applied those skills in a work setting to develop tracking systems, analyze data, and communicate information., • Experience and comfort using a range of technology including databases, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, A/V equipment, and more., • The ability to work some flexible hours – occasional evenings (6pm-9pm) and weekends (7am-4pm), including during the summer cohort (Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-9pm, Saturdays), • Be able to lift 50 lbs., • The ability to work primarily out of our Oakland office 3-5 days a week especially during cohorts., • Residency in California (preferably in the Bay Area) or the ability to move; be able to commute to our office in Oakland on a regular basisIt’s a big plus if you have…, • Advanced Excel and/or Google sheet skills., • Expertise in Salesforce., • Experience working with workforce development programs or with the re-entry population., • Knowledge of unions and the building trades.
