This position supports the case management team and the Neighborhood Coordinator in assisting individuals with obtaining temporary shelter through assertive engagement with those experiencing homelessness in the immediate vicinity of the shelter. This position requires a high degree of coordination and collaboration with other DESC programs as well as outside agencies to ensure successful transition of ongoing care for shelter guests. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Outreach & Engagement • Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of a neighborhood coordinator, case managers, service coordinators, clinical staff, and peer support to provide a variety of services focused on accessing emergency services and stabilizing clients inside and outside the center., • Be a welcoming presence and actively patrol both the interior and exterior of the STAR Center, assertively and positively engaging clients and individuals congregating outside the building to build relationships, discouraging loitering, and providing resources (as appropriate)., • Provide outreach and assertive engagement services to individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis in the immediate vicinity of the STAR Center., • Assist in training clinic staff on de-escalation skills and leading crisis response drills., • Intervene in crises and emergencies (medical, behavioral health, interpersonal) inside and in the immediate vicinity outside the building. POSITION SUMMARY: Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) are involved in all aspects of medical and surgical care in the shelter and clinic. LVTs are trusted and empowered to provide high level nursing care for hospitalized patients and anesthetic support for surgery patients, including maintaining a High-Quality High Volume Spay Neuter flow and other soft-tissue surgeries. Leave of Absence (LOA) Case Coordination · Coordinate LOA cases by providing general information, tracking required documentation, monitoring return-to-work requirements, and scheduling meetings as needed. · Maintain complete, current, and organized LOA files, escalating only policy or legal-related questions. Audits, Compliance & Monitoring · Support and coordinate audits and compliance reviews as assigned, including payroll, timekeeping, and other HR-related processes. · Monitor HR and labor-related practices for accuracy, consistency, and compliance, identifying potential risks or gaps. · Document findings and escalate concerns with appropriate context and recommended next steps. Performance Reviews & Employee Engagement · Coordinate on-site employee performance review cycles, including timelines, reminders, documentation collection, and filing. · Execute and support employee engagement and recognition initiatives, including recognition communications, reimbursements, and coordination of company events with internal teams and vendors.
