Job Description Title: Special Events & Development Associate Department: Development FLSA Classification: Exempt Reports to: Executive Director Summary: The Special Events & Development Associate supports logistics, planning, and event management for Madison's fundraising events to maintain and increase overall support. Madison’s special events are a major opportunity to engage and delight our current donors and recruit new supporters. The position’s responsibilities include implementation of key event logistics and timetable management, and providing administrative support to the development team. Job Description The mission of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Inc. (“JALC”) is to entertain, enrich and expand a global community for jazz through performance, education, and advocacy. From college students to young stars, from working professionals to celebrated masters, we present quality jazz for an ever-increasing audience in an unprecedented range of activities and a variety of venues. The Assistant Director, Events is responsible for leading and managing a portfolio of events in Frederick P. Rose Hall, Dizzy’s Club, private residences, and other venues in support of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Development team. Management includes internal and external communications, drafting and sending invitations, tracking RSVPs, and updating donor records. They are responsible for planning and executing cultivation events in close coordination with multiple stakeholders across the organization. The Assistant Director also works closely with and supports the Director of Events on the annual Gala and other major cultivation events. They interact directly with Jazz at Lincoln Center senior leadership, members of the Board of Directors, and other important donors. Responsibilities • Partner and collaborate with the Director of Events and other Development team members to plan and successfully execute 30+ events annually, managing a portfolio of events and overseeing the Events Manager’s portfolio as well., • Strategize on different fundraising approaches for the Gala to successfully hit the $3M fundraising goal and support the Director of Events on all planning and execution., • Build the primary event calendar each season for all Development-related events and work with the Events Manager to maintain and update all ancillary timelines., • Manage internal communications and tracking for collateral, RSVPs, catering, and production needs with colleagues across the institution including Concerts & Touring, Brand, Sales & Marketing, Frederick P. THE OPPORTUNITY Neighbors in Action, formerly known as the Crown Heights Community Mediation Center operates out of a storefront since the summer of 1998, and provides anti-violence programs, youth programs, and resource links to community residents. Its mission is to encourage communication and understanding, prevent future conflicts, and help foster stronger, healthier neighborhoods. Neighbors in Action (NIA) seeks an Outreach Worker Supervisor. Reporting to the S.O.S. Program Manager, the Outreach Worker Supervisor oversees the Crown Heights Outreach Workers. S.O.S. Crown Heights is a replication of the Cure Violence program, a gun violence prevention model that aims to reduce and prevent shootings through the use of public health strategies. The Outreach Worker Supervisor will work individually and as part of a team to prevent neighborhood shootings and killings. They provide conflict mediation services and provide direction to the team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Work closely with the Program Manager to plan the day-to-day and week-to-week activities with and for the outreach staff;, • Have daily communication with each member of the outreach team;, • Meet weekly at a regularly scheduled time for supervision sessions with each team member;, • Lead the outreach workers and collaborate with the Program Manger in researching causes of shootings/killings and assist in mediating underlying conflicts and prevent retaliations between individuals and groups;, • Identify and build relationships with individuals who are at high risk of involvement in shootings and killings to help them rethink their attitudes and beliefs about violence and redirect their lives in more positive directions;, • Maintain a small caseload of five participants;, • Create and monitor a risk reduction plan with each participant;, • Plan, prepare, attend and help to facilitate participant events including violence prevention and life skills workshops in local schools, parks, and community-based organizations;, • Lead outreach workers in identifying and cooling “hot spots” for shootings and violence (e.g., conducting eyeball surveys with residents and community-based organizations to identify areas frequented by high risk individuals);, • Conduct outreach to the community to build strong relationships with youth, residents, businesses, and community groups;, • Work with the Program Manager to provide program participants with support and linkages to programs including wrap-around services (e.g., job programs, GED, drug treatment, and mentoring);, • Attend weekly supervision sessions with the Program Manager and report regularly to the Program Manager on all violence reduction strategies, relevant community activities, personnel issues, or communications with press, politicians, or law enforcement;, • Document all work including shootings and other acts of violence prevented, case notes, referrals, contacts with participants, and changes in participants’ status;, • Collaborate with the Program Manager in planning and executing the community mobilization strategy;, • Assist the Program Manager in organizing community rallies in response to shootings and deploying the outreach workers to increase its visibility when shootings/killings take place in the target area;, • Maintain a schedule of all approved S.O.S. Seeking to reduce crime and incarceration and increase public trust in justice, the Midtown Community Justice Center works with neighborhood stakeholders to improve Midtown Manhattan. The court responds creatively to low-level offending, seeking alternatives that are restorative to the community. In keeping with that goal, Midtown also operates upstream programming to divert adults and young people from prosecution. The Center for Justice Innovation operates Project Reset, New York City's pre-arraignment diversion program, city-wide. Operating in collaboration with the New York Police Department, District Attorney’s Offices, and the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, Project Reset seeks to create a proportionate response to low-level crime by avoiding the use of incarceration and the potential harms associated with the traditional criminal justice process. Traditionally, Project Reset participants complete programming in advance of their court date in lieu of prosecution. Recently, the Midtown Community Justice Center began offering Rapid Reset, which offers the same diversion opportunity to Project Reset-eligible people who show up to court. Midtown Community Justice Center is seeking a Program Associate to join the Project Reset team. Reporting to the Project Reset Program Coordinator, the Program Associate will be staffed on the Midtown Community Justice Center’s Diversion team. The Program Associate will support the engagement of Project Reset-eligible individuals by conducting initial outreach, preliminary intakes, schedule programming, update compliance and lead completion protocols, facilitate off-ramps from programming, connect participants to resources and referrals, manage case files and records, and build awareness of the program among potential participants and legal and court stakeholders. Participants are either mandated or encouraged to voluntarily attend this class as part of their supervised release program. The class offers participants an overview of basic principles of power and control dynamics and uses an interactive format to introduce strategies for making healthy choices in intimate relationships. The Bilingual Facilitator will provide this class as part of a larger IPV supervised release track, with the goal of increasing compliance with court mandates and return to court. The Bilingual Facilitator will also train in other IPV and domestic violence groups and classes as the team seeks to expand programming. The Bilingual Facilitator will primarily teach online but will is also required to teach classes in person throughout New York City's five boroughs as the program expands. THE OPPORTUNITY SIJC seeks a Community Engagement Coordinator for the borough’s Supervised Release Program (SRP). Reporting to the SRP Clinical Director, the Community Engagement Coordinator will oversee the development and implementation of housing, employment, and educational services and the expansion of community engagement services provided in-house for program participants. Specifically, the Coordinator will develop supports to maximize participants’ access to medical and mental health services, substance abuse treatment and other interventions, employment and educational services, youth programming, housing resources, and other community-based supports. By providing meaningful pre-trial supervised release and post-conviction sentencing options, Brooklyn Justice Initiatives seeks to use an arrest as a window of opportunity to change the direction of a participant’s life and avoid the harmful effects of incarceration. Brooklyn Justice Initiatives is seeking a Compliance Specialist. Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Specialist will implement and execute strategies to ensure accurate compliance tracking and reporting for the Supervised Release team at BJI. Operating out of Kings County Criminal Court and community-based offices, BJI is a team of social service providers, court-based resource coordinators, mental health practitioners, compliance specialists, and others who seek to improve the quality of justice. Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Chief Development Officer, the Development Assistant or Associate will: • Prepare and maintain the Development team’s meeting agendas, notes, and action items., • Ensure donor interactions, funds, and prospect information are properly captured as actionable institutional history in the organization’s database., • Research, draft memos, and help cultivate new and lapsed foundations and individual donors for unrestricted and restricted support, • Support the Chief Development Officer in liaising with the Board of Directors, including board meetings and outreach, • Schedule, coordinate, prepare for, attend, notate, and do follow-up for (as appropriate) external and internal meetings for the Executive Director, Chief Development Officer, and other senior staff involved in development, • Support the planning and execution of all aspects of development-related events, from smaller cultivation events to the organization’s gala., • Support the organization’s fundraising campaigns, including executing an outreach and follow up strategy, • Liaise between the development department, finance department, and other teams on grant and gift tracking, including with the monthly financial reconciliation process, • One to four years of directly related experience in the development department of a nonprofit organization. In select cases, we will consider candidates with highly relevant experience in an administration or operations role within nonprofit setting outside of development. THE OPPORTUNITY Since 2011, the Brownsville Community Justice Center (BCJC), an operating project of the Center, has worked to address systemic inequality, enhance public safety, and create opportunities for residents to lead in building a safer, more equitable community. The Neighborhood Safety Council (NSC) builds on BCJC’s decade of community-driven work, serving as a platform for residents, government partners, and community stakeholders to co-design and implement initiatives that improve safety, foster economic opportunity, and reduce reliance on the justice system. The Engagement Coordinator will play a key role in building and sustaining community participation in the NSC, with a focus on recruiting, developing and managing a Youth Leadership Council (YLC) that amplifies the voices of young people in shaping community safety strategies and executing public design projects. Reporting directly to the Program Manager, the Engagement Coordinator will design youth-focused leadership opportunities, facilitate skill-building workshops, and ensure that youth perspectives are integrated into the NSC’s priorities and decision-making processes. THE OPPORTUNITY Staten Island Justice Center (SIJC) seeks to re-engineer the experience of criminal court in Staten Island, New York, by providing judges and attorneys meaningful alternatives to bail, fines, and jail sentences. Operating out of Richmond County Criminal Court along with community-based offices, SIJC is a team of social service providers, court-based resource coordinators, mental health practitioners, compliance specialists, and others who seek to improve the quality of justice. Supervised Release offers an alternative to jail by providing pretrial supervision, case management, and voluntary social services to people charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses, and in doing so, uses an arrest as a window of opportunity to change the direction of a participant’s life, avoiding the harmful effects of incarceration. Program participants are monitored to ensure their appearance at court dates and mandatory programming, and receive referrals to services like job training, drug treatment, and mental health counseling. SIJC is seeking a Clinician, Supervised Release Program (SRP). Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Clinician, SRP will be licensed a social worker and mental health practitioner responsible for providing therapeutically-informed support to participants. This position will leverage exemplary clinical and interpersonal skills to provide clinical support to participants enrolled in the program. Specifically, the Clinician, SRP will facilitate CBT-informed sessions for all Tier 2 participants, provide short-term counseling for any participant identified as a strong candidate for mental health support, and external referrals to therapy, as appropriate. This position provides hours towards LCSW accreditation. The Clinician, SRP will not carry a standard SRP caseload. Rather, they will work closely with the case management and specialty in-house referral teams to case conference about participants' strengths and needs and coordinate tailored support as appropriate. The Clinician, SRP will work with other SRP teams to ensure access to, completion of, and accurate data entry for CBT and other therapeutically-informed sessions to ensure these sessions count toward participants’ compliance status.
