Job DescriptionJob Title: Shop LaborerJob Description This role involves supporting daily operations in a busy shop environment by loading and unloading materials, counting and organizing steel inventory, and learning to operate tools and equipment safely. You will receive on-the-job training to operate an overhead crane with a remote, as well as to cut, grind, and paint metal components while standing for extended periods during your shift. Responsibilities • Load and unload steel and other materials safely and efficiently using appropriate tools and equipment., • Operate an overhead crane with a remote after receiving on-the-job training, following all safety procedures., • Count and track steel inventory accurately to support production and stock control., • Learn and perform cutting, grinding, and painting of metal parts according to instructions and quality standards., • Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, saws, and cutting tools to support daily production tasks., • Maintain a clean and organized work area by sweeping, removing debris, and storing tools and materials properly., • Follow directions from supervisors and experienced team members to complete assigned tasks on time., • Stand for up to 8 hours per shift while performing various shop and production duties., • Assist with general labor tasks as needed to support shop operations and production schedules., • Adhere to all safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment as required.Essential Skills, • Ability to perform general labor tasks in a shop or production environment., • Experience or comfort using hand tools and power tools, including grinders, saws, and cutting tools., • Willingness to learn how to operate an overhead crane with a remote under supervision and training., • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours during the workday., • Basic English communication skills to understand instructions and safety information., • Ability to learn new tasks such as cutting, grinding, and painting metal components., • Strong interest in long-term employment and growing with the company., • Reliability and punctuality for a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous experience in a shop, production, or manufacturing environment is helpful., • Familiarity with inventory counting or material tracking is an advantage., • Comfort working in a hot shop environment under a shed or covered area., • Ability to follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment consistently., • Strong attention to detail when measuring, cutting, grinding, and painting materials., • Positive attitude, willingness to take direction, and ability to work well with a team.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a shop environment under a shed, where conditions can be hot, especially during warmer seasons. The role requires standing for most of an 8-hour shift and working Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a 30-minute break. Safety practices and appropriate work attire, including personal protective equipment, are essential due to the nature of the tools and materials used. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Medley, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
