The Role DK Law is seeking a strategic, hands-on HR Director to lead and elevate our human resources function during a period of rapid growth and operational evolution. This role is ideal for a modern HR leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, understands how to balance strategy with execution, and is passionate about building scalable people operations that support a high-performance culture. Reporting directly to executive leadership, the HR Director will oversee HR operations across employee relations, compliance, compensation, benefits, HR systems, workforce planning, performance management, and organizational development. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership while also rolling up their sleeves to improve workflows, optimize HR technology, and strengthen the employee experience across the organization. The ideal candidate is analytical, emotionally intelligent, operationally strong, and excited by innovation, including the use of AI and automation to improve HR processes and workforce effectiveness. What You Will Do • Serve as a strategic HR partner to leadership across multiple departments, • Lead and oversee day-to-day HR operations, policies, and people initiatives, • Drive employee engagement, organizational development, and retention strategies, • Partner with leadership on workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development, • Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, feedback, and leadership effectiveness, • Conduct and oversee employee investigations and ensure compliant resolution of workplace concerns, • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and related requirements, • Develop, implement, and improve HR policies, procedures, and operational workflows, • Oversee compensation strategy, salary structures, merit planning, promotions, and total rewards programs, • Partner closely with payroll, benefits, and finance teams to ensure operational accuracy and compliance, • Monitor internal equity and compensation competitiveness through reporting and data analysis, • Oversee HRIS systems, reporting, and people analytics, with strong preference for Rippling experience, • Build HR dashboards, metrics, and reporting tools to support executive decision-making, • Identify opportunities for automation, AI integration, and process improvement within HR operations, • Support organizational change management initiatives and business transformation efforts, • Lead and mentor HR team members while fostering accountability and continuous growth, • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to support strategic hiring initiatives and leadership recruitment, • Maintain accurate employee records, audit readiness, and HR documentation standards, • Role may include other relevant duties as assigned. What We’re Looking For • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field required, • Master’s degree, MBA, SHRM, or PHR certification preferred, • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership responsibilities, • Minimum 3 years managing and developing HR team members, • Strong experience supporting both hourly and salaried workforces in multi-state environments, • Deep understanding of employee relations, compliance, compensation, benefits, and HR operations, • Proven experience with HRIS systems and HR analytics; Rippling experience strongly preferred, • Advanced Excel and reporting skills including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and data analysis, • Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR best practices, • Experience managing performance management cycles, compensation planning, and total rewards programs, • Excellent communication, coaching, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, • Highly analytical with the ability to interpret HR data and turn insights into actionable strategies, • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving priorities, • Strong project management and change management capabilities, • Technologically savvy with a growth mindset and interest in innovative HR solutions and AI-driven efficiencies, • Must be willing to work hands-on and operationally while also thinking strategically, • Are you able to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation?
