We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join our Buying team. Position Title: ASSISTANT BUYER Position Type: Full Time / Salary Exempt Reporting To: Director of Buying Location: Z SUPPLY – Costa Mesa, CA Work Type: Hybrid - In Office 4 Days / Remote 1 Day JOB OVERVIEW The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and eager to build a career in buying and merchandising. They enjoy working with both data and product, are naturally curious about consumer behavior, and have a strong interest in the apparel industry. This person takes pride in accuracy, follows through on commitments, and has a proactive approach to problem-solving. They are comfortable analyzing sales and inventory data, making recommendations based on business performance, and collaborating across teams to support product and merchandising initiatives. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, excellent organization, and a passion for apparel. The ideal candidate is excited by the opportunity to learn all aspects of the merchandising process—from inventory planning and sample management to buying, product analysis, and assortment development. POSITION DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES • Support the buying team in creating, maintaining, and tracking wholesale purchase orders., • Monitor inventory levels and assist with reorder recommendations to maintain healthy stock positions., • Assist with size curve analysis and develop size break recommendations to optimize inventory investments and improve sell-through., • Maintain accurate product, pricing, inventory, and vendor information across systems., • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on sales, inventory, product performance, and key business metrics., • Assist with hindsight analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement., • Manage inventory transfers and stock balancing efforts to support business needs across channels., • Partner with Operations, Sales, Design, and Production teams to ensure timely communication and execution of business needs., • Partner with Marketing to recommend products for promotional campaigns, launches, and content initiatives based on inventory availability, sales performance, and business priorities., • Conduct competitive and market research to identify trends, product opportunities, and industry insights., • Help maintain buying calendars, key milestones, and seasonal planning documents., • Maintain sample organization and coordinate sample pulls for seasonal reviews, assortment meetings, and key business initiatives., • Perform administrative and operational tasks that support the buying function and overall business objectives., • Performs other related duties as assigned by management. QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / COMPETENCIES • 0-2+ years of relevant apparel buying experience (wholesale brand experience preferred), • Bachelor's degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, Retail Management, or a related discipline preferred., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills., • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets., • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • High level of attention to detail and accuracy., • Passion for apparel, fashion, merchandising, and consumer products., • Experience with ERP, inventory management, or reporting systems is a plus. To determine starting pay within the hiring range, we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location, role/level, candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, internal parity, and other relevant factors. Flexibility outside of the salary range listed may be considered based on additional skills or qualifications a candidate may possess that may justify additional compensation. Company paid health benefits, PTO, bonus, and other various company perks are not included in the salary range listed above and are considered additional compensation.
