Job Description Immediately hiring a Welder/Fabricator in Lakewood NJ Shift/Pay: 5 Days a week 1st shift 7:00AM -4:00PM @ Monday-Friday Pay $25-30 per hour based on experience Job Description This role offers an opportunity for an experienced TIG and MIG welder to work on thin-gauge stainless and carbon steel in a fast-paced, custom fabrication and machine shop. You will complete projects from blueprints with minimal supervision, support multiple departments as needed, and contribute to a growing operation on a steady first-shift schedule. Responsibilities • Perform TIG and MIG welding on thin-gauge stainless steel and carbon steel, typically ranging from 20 gauge to 1/2 inch plate., • Set up welding machines, including selecting the appropriate type and diameter of filler wire for each job., • Complete projects from prints and drawings with minimal supervision, ensuring accuracy and quality., • Tack and weld parts using blueprints, interpreting welding symbols and requirements correctly., • TIG weld stainless steel from 20 gauge to 1/2 inch thickness while maintaining proper weld quality and appearance., • Measure materials accurately using a tape measure and apply knowledge of angles to prepare and fit parts., • Clamp parts properly to control distortion and avoid warpage during welding., • Make fixtures and perform fit-ups to support efficient and repeatable welding operations., • Read welding blueprints and identify welding symbols to determine weld type, size, and location., • Work from both client and internal prints and drawings to produce high-quality welded assemblies., • Use hand and power tools safely to support fabrication and welding tasks., • Temporarily assist in other departments as needed to meet customer demands and production schedules., • At least 3+ years of hands-on TIG and MIG welding experience, ideally with thin-gauge stainless steel., • Proficiency in TIG and MIG welding on stainless steel and carbon steel from 20 gauge to 1/2 inch plate., • Ability to set up welding machines and select appropriate filler wire types and diameters., • Ability to complete projects from blueprints and prints with minimal supervision., • Strong blueprint reading skills, including the ability to interpret welding symbols., • Ability to tack and weld parts accurately from blueprints., • Competence in using a tape measure and applying measuring and angle knowledge., • Ability to clamp parts correctly to minimize or prevent warpage during welding., • Experience using hand and power tools in a fabrication or welding environment., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of regular job duties., • Possession of basic tools and welding equipment needed for daily work., • Ability to read and communicate in English., • Experience in sheet metal manufacturing is a strong plus., • Experience with sheet metal assembly is beneficial., • Experience in custom fabrication and machine shop environments is advantageous., • Formal welding training or schooling may offset some experience requirements, depending on knowledge and skill level., • Comfort working from both client-supplied and internally generated prints and drawings. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lakewood, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
