Job Description The Clinical Compliance & Risk Specialist supports the Orthopaedic Solutions Management (OSM) Compliance & Risk Management Department by overseeing regulatory compliance, clinical safety, patient privacy, workplace safety, and risk-mitigation efforts across assigned clinics. This role ensures adherence to federal and state regulations, HIPAA and OSHA standards, medical regulatory requirements, and OSM policies and procedures. The Specialist conducts audits, assesses risks, supports event investigations, provides compliance training, and prepares accurate reports and presentation materials for leadership. This role directly contributes to fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining compliance, privacy, and clinical policies and procedures., • Perform routine compliance audits, site assessments, and documentation reviews across assigned clinics., • Monitor organizational adherence to medical regulations, CMS requirements, state laws, and clinical scope-of-practice standards., • Support oversight of clinical documentation quality and high-risk clinical programs, including controlled substance storage and security., • Monitor and document patient safety events, adverse events, and near-misses; participate in root cause analysis and follow-up actions., • Track and analyze clinical grievance trends and prepare summary reports., • Review PHI access activity and EMR audit logs; assist with privacy investigations, incident documentation, and required reporting., • Maintain privacy notices, authorization forms, and confidentiality materials., • Support delivery and tracking of annual compliance, HIPAA, and safety training requirements., • Assist with OSHA compliance reviews, workplace safety monitoring, and biohazard/bloodborne pathogen program activities., • Support investigations related to workplace conduct, professionalism, safety issues, or potential policy violations., • Participate in medical necessity reviews, basic claims compliance monitoring, and preparation for government audits., • Prepare compliance dashboards, reports, and presentations for leadership and relevant committees., • Provide administrative support for compliance-related committees, including quality, operations, and safety meetings., • Serve as a resource to clinic teams by providing guidance on regulatory requirements and internal compliance expectations., • Collaborate with clinic managers, clinical teams, operations, HR, and training departments to support consistent compliance practices., • Use tools such as Navex and Microsoft Excel to track, analyze, and report compliance activities., • Contribute to a collaborative team culture and support ongoing development of the Compliance & Risk department., • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree (preferred)., • CHC (Certified in Healthcare Compliance) strongly preferred., • Clinical background or clinical experience required., • 2–4 years of healthcare experience required., • Experience with medical regulations, HIPAA, OSHA, and healthcare compliance standards required., • Leadership experience or demonstrated leadership potential., • Strategic and forward-thinking mindset, with the ability to anticipate compliance challenges and implement proactive solutions., • Team-building mindset to support the growth of the Compliance & Risk Department., • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret regulations and identify risks., • Strong communication skills, including ability to create clear and concise PowerPoint presentations., • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data tracking., • Ability to work collaboratively across clinical and administrative teams.
