Job Description Overview: The Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) of Rising Ground understands the importance of removing barriers to care and providing trauma-informed services. Through this dedication, the TRC aims to transform services for survivors of violent crime. Rising Ground’s TRC is designed to help victims of violent crimes overcome barriers to accessing mental health treatment, health care, and legal resources in the acute aftermath of trauma. The TRC supports recent victims of violent crime, including survivors of physical assault, sexual assault, gun shot wounds, stabbings, domestic violence and human trafficking. The Trauma Recovery Center facilitates healing for survivors of trauma, violence, and loss through an innovative model that blends comprehensive care, advocacy and outreach. Position Summary: The Lead Clinical Social Worker/Therapist of the Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) will provide clinical intakes, assessments, planning and implementing individual and group psychotherapy, assertive outreach, and clinical case management services, using evidence based practices that are effective for the service population and supervise other clinicians as needed. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for social justice and anti-oppressive practice, ample experience providing clinical services to survivors of trauma, and a desire to work collaboratively with a team of creative and committed advocates. All candidates must have a strong understanding of trauma-based work and have experience providing crisis intervention and emotional support to trauma survivors. The ideal candidate recognizes that “the most harmed are the least helped,” understands the importance of removing barriers to care, and has a passion to increase accessibility of services to survivors of violent crimes. This position is located in our downtown Brooklyn location with a hybrid schedule of 3 office days, and 2 days remote. To meet program needs, all staff in the TRC will conduct home visits and accompaniment/advocacy in the community, as needed. Core Responsibilities: Clinical Intervention, Consultation, Psychotherapy, Liaison, Outreach and Case Management: • Conducts clinical intakes of new clients using a trauma-informed approach and identifies service needs when appropriate. Assessment includes identifying presenting problems, psychosocial history, mental status exam, and DSM-5 diagnosis., • Clinical interventions include crisis intervention and emotional support to clients., • Clinical services also include short-term, trauma-informed individual and group psychotherapy as well as comprehensive clinical case management, liaison with other health care providers, and referral and accompaniment to community services when appropriate., • May visit patient at home and/or in the community for the purpose of outreach and follow-up if the patient is unable to keep regularly scheduled appointments., • Caseload consists of complex clients, all of whom have histories of trauma, including acute and chronic physical and sexual abuse, and are victims of interpersonal violence such as sexual assault, physical assault, domestic violence, gunshot wounds, political torture, and immigration trauma. Many clients also have concurrent medical problems, psychosocial problems, and may have substance abuse problems as well., • Utilizes knowledge of the mental health, medical, and community resources in New York City and maintains familiarity with new programs., • Develops a comprehensive treatment and service plan for each client, integrating knowledge from a wide range of human service resources., • Facilitates coordination of services among various agencies; advocates for and links client to needed services. Helps to obtain eligibility for client's social security disability, Victim of Crime, and other financial entitlements. Provides assistance with U-Visas and psychological asylum evaluations as needed. Serves as a client advocate and liaison with the District Attorney’s Office and Police Department for victims of crime wishing to file police reports, restraining orders, etc. Clinical Supervision, Teaching, Training, and Program Development: • May provide supervision to clinical interns and other clinicians., • Participates in in-service trainings and case conferences., • Conducts community presentations., • May assist with program development, including identification and implementation of types of appropriate measurement-guided mental health treatment. Job Description Multisystemic Therapist - Emerging Adults POSITION OVERVIEW: · Support emerging adults in their transition from group residential foster care into independent living with a minimum of disruptions and reduce the risk of emerging adults requiring further systemic involvement and placement. · Eliminate or significantly reduce the frequency and intensity of the emerging adult’s referral concerns in mental health, educational/vocational, interpersonal, and behavioral domains. · Empower the emerging adult and their social network with the skills and resources needed to independently address the difficulties that arise in independent living, and to empower the emerging adult to overcome family, peer, school, employment, and community concerns. · The group residence programs served by MST-EA (Cedar Knolls House and Kaplan House) serve transition aged youth displaying a wide range of behaviors including psychiatric diagnoses, trauma and loss, and related family/behavioral issues. The target for MST-EA focuses on transition age youth, 17 to 26 years old, transitioning from the group residence into the community. Program works with the emerging adult from up to 2 months prior to discharge up to 10 months post-discharge to support the successful reintegration back to the community and social network. KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Conduct mental status exams with clients (as needed). · Conduct MST assessment including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and developing an analysis of the fit of problem behaviors within the ecological context. · Engage primary caregiver(s) and/or other key social network members in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement. · Develop trauma-informed, strength-based, and culturally-competent treatment plans in collaboration with the client and his/her social network. · Ensure client and social network safety by conducting regular safety assessments and developing comprehensive safety plans. · Be available and on call to provide clinical support to participants and their family of care. · Implement initial case conceptualization, treatment planning, collaborative goal setting, intervention implementation, outcomes review, and strategy revision procedure using the MST Analytic Process. · Facilitate home- and community-based treatment with clients 2-3 times per week per client for four clients. · Maintain clear and concise weekly case summaries that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with the nine MST Principles and the MST Analytic Process. · Ability to engage and collaborate with all relevant systems and key participants within each system, to maintain alignment throughout MST treatment. · Provide direct clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST principles and practices. · Participate in all MST training, supervision, consultation, MST Therapist development activities, and ongoing MST-EA quality assurance system. · Engaging in weekly program team meetings/case conferences/high-risk meetings. · Oversee client progress and ensure proper discharge planning. EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIRED: Master’s degree in clinical or counseling Psychology, Social Work, or a related subject area required and a license in a counseling field (LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, LCAT, etc); limited permit/provisional licenses will be considered.
