We partner with service providers to improve payment timeliness, increase online adoption, and provide flexible payment options—all at no cost to the provider. Position: Director, Corporate Accounting Role Overview: We are seeking a strategic, hands-on leader to join our finance team as Director, Corporate Accounting. In this role, you will lead core accounting operations and oversee accounts payable, optimizing financial processes while building and mentoring a high-performing team poised to support the company's growth trajectory. You will design and manage accounting processes that are well controlled and efficient, leveraging technology and automation to improve operational excellence. The ideal candidate possesses a deep knowledge of US GAAP, strong business acumen, and a strategic mindset. You will thrive in a fast-paced, evolving fintech environment and demonstrate resilience, ownership, and sound judgment. Reporting to the VP, Controller, this position is based in NYC with hybrid work flexibility. Key Responsibilities: • Manage month-end close activities related to key financial statement areas including cash, fixed assets, leasing, accounts payable, accrued expenses, contingencies, payroll, stock-based compensation, capitalized software, debt, and equity., • Improve month-end close processes with formalized balance sheet reconciliations, enhanced documentation, and close management tooling., • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure accounting accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with US GAAP., • Develop, communicate, and enforce accounting policies, educating team members and stakeholders., • Partner on ERP system selection, design, and implementation, contributing to the finance systems roadmap., • Work with finance partners to optimize chart of accounts and reporting structures., • Ensure strong internal controls, including SOX readiness, and develop or enhance controls as necessary., • Oversee accounts payable operations, ensuring timely, compliant invoice processing and drive automation initiatives., • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement., • Anticipate evolving business needs to build scalable accounting processes., • Collaborate with treasury and technology teams to optimize cash reconciliation and reporting. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required., • Active CPA license in good standing., • 10+ years in accounting operations leadership, preferably in a public company; Big 4 experience highly preferred., • Prior fintech, financial services, or regulated industry experience preferred, especially in high-growth environments., • Expert knowledge of US GAAP, including technical areas such as contingencies (ASC 450), leasing (ASC 842), debt (ASC 470), share-based compensation (ASC 718), capitalized software (ASC 350-40)., • Experience with ERP implementations focusing on record-to-report and procure-to-pay modules., • Strong understanding of AP and T&E systems, ideally with experience implementing tools like Ramp, Bill.com, or similar., • Proven experience designing and managing internal controls (FSCP, PTP); SOX compliance experience strongly preferred., • Previous direct management of AP function preferred., • Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous, and dynamic environments., • Effective communicator skilled at interacting across all levels with humility and collaboration., • Highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter capable of independent and team-driven work., • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to anticipate and prevent issues proactively., • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship capabilities for accounting teams.
