Job DescriptionJob Title: PackerJob Description The packer supports packaging operations in a food manufacturing facility by following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all requirements outlined in the company’s HACCP plan to maintain SQF compliance, sanitation, traceability, and quality standards. This role organizes inventory, prepares items for shipment, works collaboratively on a production line, stages packing materials and finished goods, operates packaging equipment, and maintains a clean and safe workstation while performing additional tasks assigned by leadership. Responsibilities • Follow all safety, cGMP, food safety, and quality guidelines as outlined in the company’s Food Safety and Quality Programs and HACCP plan., • Operate and monitor packaging machinery in accordance with company procedures and safety standards., • Perform equipment setup, adjustments, and changeovers based on production schedules and product specifications., • Monitor the production process and follow established production guidelines and specifications., • Conduct regular quality checks on packaged goods to ensure they meet established quality and food safety standards., • Monitor packaging materials and supplies during production and replenish them as needed to avoid interruptions., • Organize inventory, stage packing materials, and prepare finished goods for shipment., • Ensure production equipment remains stocked and monitor production of various product sizes, including bars., • Document production data and complete reports for quality assurance and traceability purposes., • Inspect products and packaging in a cleanroom or controlled environment as required., • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning the workstation and surrounding equipment., • Report any food quality or food safety issues or concerns promptly to a supervisor., • Report any machine failures and clearly describe the frequency and type of failure to support maintenance and troubleshooting., • Work collaboratively with others on the production line to meet production targets and maintain efficient workflow., • Perform general labor and packaging tasks as assigned by management to support overall production needs.Essential Skills, • Strong team player with the ability to work effectively on a production line., • Good communication skills; ability to understand and follow instructions clearly (bilingual skills are a plus)., • Willingness and ability to learn new tasks, processes, and equipment., • Flexibility with scheduling and the ability to work multiple shifts as needed., • Problem-solving skills to identify issues and support continuous improvement in packaging operations., • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (medium work)., • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours and for sustained periods of time., • Ability to extend hands and arms in any direction to handle products and materials., • Ability to handle and pick up bars and other products repeatedly during the shift., • Ability to apply pressure with fingers and palms to handle, grasp, and manipulate objects., • Ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels and receive detailed information through oral communication., • Visual ability to perform inspections involving small defects and to distinguish colors accurately., • Ability to express and exchange ideas clearly through spoken word., • Ability to bend at the waist, and to bend the body downward and forward by bending legs and spine., • Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks throughout the production area., • Ability to safely work around moving mechanical parts such as conveyors., • Ability to work in a refrigerated environment., • Ability to safely go up and down stairs as part of daily work activities.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in production, general labor, or packing roles in a manufacturing or food environment is beneficial., • Experience working in a cleanroom or controlled environment is an asset., • Familiarity with inspection and packaging processes in a food manufacturing setting is advantageous., • Comfort using basic production and packaging equipment and following documented procedures., • Attention to detail when completing documentation for quality assurance and traceability., • Bilingual communication skills are considered a plus.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a food manufacturing facility that operates Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. You will work in a refrigerated environment around moving mechanical equipment such as conveyors and packaging machinery, following strict GMP and food safety guidelines. The facility maintains a cleanroom-style standard, which includes specific dress and appearance requirements such as no jewelry and no make-up to support food safety and product integrity. Work involves standing for extended periods, moving throughout the production area, climbing stairs, and working in close collaboration with other team members on the production line. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Piscataway, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
