Our work spans new boiler and boiler room installations, code repairs and alterations to pressure-retaining equipment, burner and controls retrofits, preventive maintenance agreements, emergency service, and efficiency upgrade projects. We are seeking a General Manager to take full operational and financial ownership of the business. This is a true P&L role. You will run service, construction, and shop operations day to day, own the numbers that ownership sees every month, protect and advance our code certifications, and build a durable leadership culture in a trade where skilled labor is scarce and loyalty is earned rather than bought. The right person is equal parts operator, financial thinker, and people leader — comfortable in a boiler room at 2 a.m. and in front of a spreadsheet the next morning. This role exists to professionalize how the business runs without breaking what already works. You will inherit experienced field technicians and long-standing customer relationships. Sequencing and communication matter more than the changes themselves., • Build the succession bench: recruit, develop, and retain technicians in a labor market where the experienced boiler mechanic pool is shrinking and every competitor is fishing in the same pond. Own the apprenticeship and mentoring pipeline., • Set clear performance expectations, run consistent one-on-ones and reviews, coach the willing, and move decisively on the unwilling., • Serve as the escalation point for customer conflict, jobsite disputes, and internal friction — de-escalating without conceding margin. Each year, programs in academics, including STEM, the arts, sports and wellness, and college access, help 40,000 students develop leadership skills and succeed in school. SUMMARY Food Explorer Specialists provide age-appropriate nutrition education to youth in New York Edge after-school programs. This part-time position is geared towards engaging children in an exciting but realistic way to promote healthy behavior changes they can model for their peers and families. The Food Explorer Specialist position works with the Program Director to ensure the location sites' after-school wellness needs and goals are met. WORK SCHEDULE 9-15 hours per week. Monday through Friday -- 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Ensure daily activity lesson plans and projects are structured, age-appropriate, and have clear learning goals based on the provided Food Explorer and physical activity guide. Communicate with the Program Director and Center for Food Explorer and Wellness regarding the calendar of programs, leagues, tournaments, and special events. Motivate and provide students to participate in organization-wide Food Explorer activities. Establish and enforce safety rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible. Instruct participants on the activities' principles, techniques, and safety procedures and show them how to use materials and equipment properly. Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students. Evaluate activities to determine if they are producing the desired results. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' needs and interests. Promote and ensure the progressive development of student skills and character development in all youth. Most New York Edge Food Explorer Specialists are expected to provide support during Academic hours. Adapt each activity to ensure safe participation in the space provided. REQUIRED SKILLS Must be knowledgeable and skilled in and have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth. Prior experience teaching and instructing youth preferred Must be able to follow a curriculum Must be responsible, reliable, and punctual! Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. May be required to walk up and down stairs. May have to lift or move objects/materials as needed. Work is performed mostly within a New York City Public School but may be required to interact with the community at-large during trips or events. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or Equivalent required; some college preferred Preferred Degree in or currently studying Nutrition, Public Health, and/or subject that applies. A minimum of one year of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required. A minimum of one year of teaching experience is required.
