The Nurse Practitioner Fellow (NPF) will spend clinical and administrative time across multiple divisions within the Ob/Gyn department, including General Ob/GYN, Urogynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Family Planning, and Integrated Women's Health. The NPF will assist in providing compassionate, patient-centered care for women seeking routine gynecologic and obstetrical care. Clinical responsibilities include completing patient intakes, obtaining all pertinent demographic and clinical information from referring physicians and/or patients, providing patients with appropriate reference and resource materials, and meeting and orienting new patients. The position will also involve assisting attending physicians with office visits and procedures as needed. Our goal is to ensure that the NPF can see patients independently and develop a patient panel by the end of the Fellowship Responsibilities Patient Care Management and Documentation • Deliver patient-centered care under the supervision of experienced physicians and senior APPs in the outpatient Women's Health clinic., • Conduct comprehensive gynecological and obstetric assessments, including routine prenatal care, family planning, and menopause management., • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as Pap smears, IUD and Nexplanon management, endometrial biopsies, and colposcopies., • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with chronic conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, and other gynecological disorders., • Provide education and counseling to patients on reproductive health, contraception options, prenatal and postpartum care, and menopause management., • Attend and actively participate in didactic sessions, case conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings., • Work collaboratively with physicians, other APPs, nurses and staff to provide holistic and coordinated care., • Work closely with the physicians to provide high-quality, comprehensive patient care., • Track lab results to confirm that patient has had appropriate follow up., • Act as a resource for patients requesting lab results and requisitions., • Triage patient phone calls and make clinically-related follow-up calls., • Use EMR and optimize EMR functions with IT., • Administers care in accordance with safety, environmental and infectious control principles and regulations identified by the institution and legislative bodies., • Demonstrates an awareness and knowledge of patient's rights and responsibilities while receiving care within the institution., • Serves as a resource person and participates in staff development programs., • Assists staff in developing appropriate quality improvement study design for potential use in research., • Participates, when appropriate, in quality improvement activities., • Participates in approved research protocols., • Collaborate on clinical problems with nursing personnel, medical staff or other health care providers., • Collaborates with other members of the interdisciplinary team to determine and achieve health goals of patients and families., • Promotes a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, families and staff., • Acknowledges cultural differences that exist among staff and patients., • Identifies customer services needs on the unit., • Participates in departmental staff meetings and committees as required and appropriate., • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications • Master's Degree in specialty of practice or completed alternative certification requirements for graduates of nurse practitioner programs prior to April 1, 1989., • Requires Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience., • At least one year of related experience required. Educational clinical experience can count towards this requirement., • Current NYS RN and NP Licensures., • National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the specialty of practice., • Basic Life Support Certification for all Nurse Practitioners who provide direct patient care., • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to direct work, drive change, interact with and effectively collaborate with patients and co-workers., • Must maintain licensure throughout employment., • Possess strong organizational skills and be detail oriented., • 1-4 years of related experience.
