Job Description This position is part-time, 32 hours per week. Summary: Responsible for the collection of blood and other specimens from all patient populations using prescribed procedures with accuracy, skill, professionalism, and superb customer service. Duties may require on and off-site phlebotomy, specimen transport and specimen delivery duties. Other specialized duties include patient registration, patient lab order management, processing specimens for testing, blood study kit handling, lab order entry and acting as a first responder to emergency codes. Education, License & Certification: • High school diploma or equivalent is required., • Computer keyboard skills and navigation are required., • Completion of a phlebotomy training program or equivalent experience is desired., • Medical terminology and/or knowledge of basic anatomy is preferred, • A valid driver’s license is required at some Guthrie locations Essential Functions: As a phlebotomist you will be responsible for obtaining quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods (venous and capillary) using standard safety equipment from all age groups with strict adherence to regulatory requirements and collection procedures. You may be required to provide rapid response to medical emergencies such as traumas and codes. Additional responsibilities include: • Accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, handling, and transportation, • Working with a variety of computer programs/systems, • Utilizing excellent customer relations and communication skills in performing phlebotomy, • Answering the phone and interacting with patients, nurses, providers, and other health care professionals to ensure high customer satisfaction, • Demonstrating a positive and professional demeanor, • Working independently as well as within a team, • Demonstrating skills in coping, understanding, following written and verbal instructions, organization and prioritization, attention to detail, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision making, • You will actively partner with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives Other Duties: • Phlebotomists may be required to support evening, night, weekend, or holidays shifts for both outpatient and inpatient specimen collection, • Phlebotomists may be required to travel to perform specimen collections, • Other duties as assigned Pay Range $17.00-$23.85/hr DOE About Us Joining the Guthrie team allows you to become a part of a tradition of excellence in health care. Job Description Position Summary: The Patient Service Specialist provides direct, daily operational front office support in a manner consistent with Guthrie Medical Group’s Service Excellence Standards. The Patient Service Specialist will continually demonstrate Patient Centeredness, Teamwork, and Excellence in the daily performance of their duties. This position requires the ability to be self‐motivated, flexible, punctual, detail oriented, have good time management skills and have excellent communication skills. Education, License & Cert: High School diploma/GED required. Graduation from a Medical Office Assistant school preferred. Experience: Demonstrated customer service commitment in a fast‐paced environment with a minimum of 1 year experience in a customer service related field preferred. Medical office experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Must be comfortable with computers and learning new applications. Essential Functions: • Responsible for greeting every patient in a courteous, professional, and timely manner every Time., • Responsible for answering telephones in a friendly and efficient manner in conjunction with Guthrie’s Telephone Standards. Screens telephone calls, takes messages and provides information., • Responsible for scheduling and maintaining all patient appointments electronically. Verifies patient information at time of scheduling and assigns B# / MRN to new patients. Responsible for editing appointment schedule at the direction of practice management., • Registers patient. Reviews, verifies and corrects patient demographic and insurance information along with scanning current insurance cards into the patient’s confidential medical record., • Verify eligibility for major insurance carriers including but not limited to New York and Pennsylvania Medical Assistance to ensure accurate billing. Complete various types of insurance forms, pre‐certifications and referrals., • Possess the ability to inform, quote, and collect copayments, insurance deductibles, deposits, or unpaid balances at the time of registration as per Guthrie Medical Group, P.C. ‘s policies and guidelines., • Responsible for daily cash‐out and balancing in accordance with the Patient Cash Control Policy., • Performs liaison duties between patients, physicians, hospital staff, organizational departments, etc., keeping the departments fully aware of all necessary information. Keeps patients informed of any delays., • Adheres to departmental and organizational policies and attends meetings/huddles as required., • Requires the ability to prioritize daily tasks simultaneously in a fast‐paced, ever changing work environment within a strong team structure., • Maintains strict confidentiality related to patient health information in accordance with HIPAA compliance., • Assists with and completes other projects or duties as assigned including participating in all quality initiatives established by the organization.
