Job Description Plumber Under the supervision of the Facility Manager, this position is responsible for the more complex and critical Medical Air, Steam, and Plumbing systems of the facility. This position involves the performance of a variety of building and maintenance repair tasks of a skilled and semi-skilled nature in the areas of environmental control, automated and mechanical equipment maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems. This position can be called back to work for equipment malfunctions at all hours, and overtime work. Shift hours may change in certain projects to avoid or minimize patient care interruption. Job Responsibilities include: Safety • Demonstrates an understanding of emergency procedures, fire drills, evacuation procedures, and internal/external disaster procedures, as outlined in the fire safety policy, knows personal role in the event of a fire while on duty. Exceeds: Understands fire alarm system and equipment. Exceeds: Familiarity of all satellite sites and the ability to help remedy problems or evaluate systems., • Performs preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment according to established procedures. Inspects, calibrates, adjusts, lubricates, and repairs or replaces components of the Plumbing system. Services and repairs the more complex Plumbing equipment., • Schedules and maintains records of maintenance repairs. Exceeds: Facility Plumbing PMs are 100% complete at the end of the calendar year., • In-services facility workers on required utility maintenance procedures when needed., • Responds to calls for emergency repairs off of normal working hours. Exceeds: Completes repairs and documents services rendered. Notifies Facility Manager of Emergency and what was done to remedy the event., • Performs and documents scheduled inspections to maintain conformance to code requirements. Exceeds: Keeps and active watch on all assigned inspections and certificates to avoid expiration. Notifies supervisor as inspection nears., • Performs and documents equipment repairs and tests new and repaired equipment before it is put into service., • Trains staff in operation and repair of equipment., • Responsibilities include maintaining the facilities medical vacuum, medical air, and medical gas systems. Assists associated mechanics and vendors with repairs. Facilities Support • Submits completed work requests on a daily basis. Exceeds: Ensures all closed work orders are submitted on a daily basis at end of shift., • Provides comments to manager(s) when anticipated work delays occur. Exceeds: Research cost increases or labor scheduling conflicts and discusses with supervisor., • Completes daily work orders as assigned by facility Manager(s) in a timely manner. Exceeds: Completes all infection control work orders within 1 day of receiving., • Completes assigned preventive maintenance work on time. Exceeds: Responsibility of identifying and informing facility manager(s) of additional equipment not included in PM scheduling., • Completes assigned rounds when required. Exceeds: Checks assigned mechanical rooms as required and maintains cleanliness of room., • Ability to comprehend construction drawings and specifications. Ability to apply drawings to work at hand., • Understands the equipment submittal process and operation manual filing system. Participates in keeping system in order for department use., • Ability to properly estimate labor hours and materials for project work. Assists Facility manager(s) in finalizing estimated project costs., • Properly fills out purchase requisitions for materials and includes department(s) materials are to be allocated to. Calls vendors for pricing proposals and researches most cost-effective choices. Submits purchase requisition in a timely fashion to facility manager for approval., • Participates in keeping track of project labor and material costs during assigned projects, to assure project stays within estimate. Exceeds: Ability to understand all phases and trades of a project to increase co-ordination and communication throughout project. Information Management • Accurately uses the hospital information system to enter and retrieve maintenance related data., • Demonstrates knowledge of the work order system. Requirements: Education - High School Diploma / GED Experience - Experience in Plumbing with a minimum of 2 years of healthcare experience related to facilities engineering practices, or 5 years of relevant commercial work history in one of the above disciplines. Physical Requirements - This position requires the ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Requirements also include climbing, bending, and the ability to get into tight spaces while working off a ladder. Licensure- Ability to work towards obtaining NYS Backflow Preventer Certification, Medical Gas ASSE 6040 certifications. After 6 months, this increases to 5 days per week with Manager approval, as workload permits) RESPONSIBILITIES These are the most significant responsibilities and primary functions of the position. • Provide respectful culturally competent legal services to clients with low income and client groups including advice, negotiation, litigation and administrative advocacy., • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines while supervising caseload of supervisees and coordinate the periodic review of the cases., • Develop and maintain specialized knowledge of administrative law and federal court practice as it relates to claims for SSI and SSDI benefits., • Identify leadership development and mentoring opportunities for supervisees and train less-experienced attorneys, paralegals and/or other staff in their pursuit of career advancement., • Create and maintain a safe and healthy work environment for supervisees., • Build relationships and collaborate with human services providers, non-profit organizations, community groups, and impacted community members as well as the courts, administrative tribunals, and the private bar to address legal problems within our community., • Take responsibility for proper grant management requirements, program reporting, timekeeping, file maintenance, case closing, and compliance review., • Maintain a high level of professional competence through attendance of training sessions, seminars and conferences and individual efforts to keep abreast of current developments in the area of poverty law and the application of an equity lens to client service.
