Job Summary The Groundskeeper/Custodian supports the Horticulture, Events, and Education teams by maintaining the Solar One Environmental Education Center and Stuy Cove Park, located along the East River between 18th and 23rd streets. The Education Center is a 1,200-square-foot classroom/event space with a capacity of 86 people. Stuy Cove Park is a 1.9-acre (approximately 7,700 sq. ft.) public waterfront park that features a 1,400-foot-long greenway with landscaping and seating, providing the community with a unique and beautiful green space for relaxing, picnicking, exercising, and more. We're looking for a Production Kitchen Manager to lead the kitchen, raise the bar on quality and food safety, and build systems that allow us to increase production without sacrificing craftsmanship. We currently operate out of a shared kitchen space and we're not a restaurant. The Role You will own day-to-day kitchen leadership, production execution, and operational excellence. You will turn recipes into repeatable systems, elevate standards, and scale output while protecting product integrity. You will report directly to the Founder. What You’ll Own 1. Kitchen Leadership • Lead, train, and schedule kitchen crew, • Build a culture of accountability, precision, and urgency, • Develop clear SOPs for fillings, dough, assembly, proofing, and baking, • Ensure consistent crimping, portioning, and finishing standards 2. Three shifts are available at the Brooklyn Navy Yard: • Night shift, 5:00 PM - 1:30 AM, • Morning shift, 4:00 AM - 12:30 PM, • Swing shift, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM Duties & Responsibilities: • Accept tasks from the Engineering Supervisor and plans/implements execution., • Successfully and safely perform all diesel engine maintenance onboard vessels up to, and including, engine overhauls, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance work., • Ensure all aspects of safety during task execution., • Issue company power tools to technicians to accomplish designated tasks. Ensure tools are returned before the end of the shift., • Ensure company warranty procedures are followed., • Ensure all shift paperwork is correctly completed and submitted., • Important vessel information is communicated to other supervisors and the chain of command., • Seek the highest levels of quality and professionalism., • Use of approved Hazmat required for Paints, Solvents & Cleaning Agents., • Perform cleaning and custodial tasks of the vessels and property, including maintenance and construction tasks as assigned and minor engineering repairs and rounds as directed., • Work to achieve the highest levels of performance and productivity., • Assist the Port Engineer in ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations., • Assist the Port Engineer in ensuring the vessel is always in an inspection-ready condition., • Assist with filling water, bunkering fuel, connecting and disconnecting shore power as directed., • Additional job duties as assigned.
