Decisions to release medical information to other staff members will be based on the camper’s needs and parents’ authorization., • Models and teaches good health practices for all staff and campers., • Supplies and maintains first aid kits for specified areas in camp and for out of camp trips and hikes., • Refers campers and staff to physician’s care at clinic or hospital, with approval of Camp Director and camp physician on call., • Confers with parents as necessary., • Screens incoming campers for any illnesses, infections, bruises, rashes and other health concerns., • Notifies the appropriate staff members of camper allergies, medications and health concerns., • Establishes a system for health screening for arriving campers and staff, as well as a system for health screening for trips out-of-camp., • Conducts an inventory of supplies and places orders when necessary, ensuring the timely arrival of supplies., • Participate in and lead specific areas of staff training pertaining to camp health and safety, including, but not limited to standard precautions, how to administer aid and what type of aid needs more then general first aid., • Consult with the camp physician on call regarding camper and staff medical health., • Responsible for the safety and well-being of campers and staff while in the infirmary., • Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitized infirmary at all times., • Expected to stay on camp property while camp is in session, including pre-camp training and closing of camp., • Assists in the Wednesday overnight coverage when deemed necessary, • Participates in camp activities when possible and helps with pre-camp training, open house and post camp., • Apply behavior management techniques to conflicts with children., • Report incidents/accidents to supervisor immediately., • Report suspected child abuse to supervisor immediately., • May need to act as bus aide at some point during the summer day camp season (will receive additional pay), • If acting as bus aide, • Must meet the bus at the terminal or first bus stop in the morning., • Take a head count of the campers every day during the morning pick-up and evening drop-off and maintain safety and orderliness on the bus., • Report absent campers to the Assistant Camp Director every morning and evening., • Assure that a parent or other designated adult As an OR Travel Nurse, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks: • Provide basic bedside care., • Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment., • Serve as the communication liaison between patients' family members and members of the operating team., • Ensure that the correct procedure(s) is being performed on the correct patient., • Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs. Additional duties for Circulating OR Nurses may include:, • Responding to comfort and safety needs of patient., • Accurate care and handling of specimens., • Monitoring equipment used during surgery., • Inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure. Additional duties for Scrub OR Nurses may include:, • Selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures., • Inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure. Additional duties for RN First Assistant may include:, • Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care., • Help control bleeding., • Suture patients following surgery. OR Travel Nurses should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean and stoop without difficulty. RNs should be able to easily lift 20 pounds. Moving or lifting of patients may require lifting of up to 50 pounds at times. RNs may face hazards from exposure to certain chemicals or infectious diseases in the operating room environment.
