Job Description The Deburring Technician ensures every part leaving the machine meets strict edge-finish, surface, and cleanliness requirements. You’ll remove burrs, break edges, and blend surfaces on tight-tolerance components, collaborating closely with Machining and Quality to hit schedule and first-pass yield targets. This person will be responsible for the final finishing stage of CNC-machined aerospace and defense components. Job Responsibilities * Remove burrs, sharp edges, and excess material from CNC-machined parts using hand tools, air tools, grinders, files, and polishing equipment. * Perform fine deburr under a microscope on small features, cross-holes, slots, and EDM details. * Inspect machined components for defects, surface irregularities, or sharp edges that don’t meet aerospace quality standards. * Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to ensure parts are finished according to engineering requirements. * Interpret blueprints and GD confirm edge conditions (e.g., chamfers/radii as specified) and critical features prior to QA. * Work with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, depth/pin gauges and optical comparator) to confirm dimensional accuracy after deburring. * Complete traveler/ERP signoffs and lot traceability. * Perform surface finishing processes such as polishing, edge-breaking, chamfering, and smoothing to meet aerospace surface-finish specifications. * Operate/maintain vibratory/tumble deburr equipment, bead/air blast, part cleaning/ultrasonic, and safe packaging practices. * Quality & Collaboration: Partner with Machining/Quality to resolve edge-condition issues, suggest process improvements, and prevent rework. * Works closely with CNC machinists, quality inspectors, and engineers to ensure finished parts are compliant and ready for customer shipment. * Maintain quality and consistency by following AS9100/ISO aerospace quality standards and internal inspection processes. * Maintain organized benches, manage media/tooling, follow PPE and FOD-prevention practices. Requirements * 1+ year of experience in CNC Operation, Finishing, or Deburring, with a good understanding of the precision machining processes, tolerances, finishing/deburring, and quality processes, required. * GD&T literacy with solid measurement skills, required. * Able to read and interpret engineering and customer specs, required. * Comfortable with using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges), microscopes, and small parts, to confirm dimensional accuracy after deburring. * Prior experience with ERP systems, and MS Office (word/excel), required. * High School Diploma, or GED, required and basic math skills, required. * Must be comfortable with hand tools; air tools, grinders, polishing equipment, files, stones, scrapers, X-Acto/razor tools, deburr blades, abrasive pads/rolls, rotary & pneumatic grinders (e.g., Dremel), micro-abrasive tools, bead/air blast, vibratory/tumble bowls, microscope, ultrasonic cleaner, and standard metrology. Nice to Have * Background in aerospace/defense environments and AS9100 documentation practices, quality standards and processes.
