To learn more, visit wearedream.org. DREAM is seeking dynamic individuals to serve as Softball Coaches in our middle school (DREAM University) summer program. DREAM University Softball Coaches lead outdoor, skill-based practices and recreational activities focused on fundamentals such as hitting, fielding, throwing, base running, and game strategy, all aligned with DREAM’s athletics curriculum. The ideal candidate is a reliable team player with a strong commitment to youth development and experience playing and/or coaching softball. Responsibilities • Assist Athletics Specialists with leading huddles with high school coaches to review Athletics plans and train in facilitation best practices and strategies,, • Responsible for all outdoor/on field sports programming;, • Lead implementation of youth sports practices and games;, • Deliver, structured, skill-based sport education lessons;, • Mentor and set a positive example for high school-aged coaches;, • Supervise and manage students at all times using restorative practices and proactive interventions to ensure physical and emotional safety;, • Model and encourage positive participation in all daily activities;, • Use Sports Based Youth Development principles to create an inclusive and accessible competitive sports environment;, • Participate in professional development and tactical meetings as necessary;, • Implement all standard health and safety protocols as required., • Monitor youth and high school coaches during practices and games;, • Responsible for ensuring all playing areas are safe and for implementing all DREAM safety guidelines;, • Responsible for the escalation and documentation of all incidents, emergencies, injuries, and the filing of incident reportsQualifications, • 18+ years old and high school diploma or equivalent required by June 22, 2026;, • Ability to facilitate high quality recreation programming with large groups of adolescents in an outdoor environment while ensuring student safety;, • Ability to independently follow practice plans/lesson plans;, • Exhibits high energy, warmth, enthusiasm and patience in working with adolescents;, • Demonstrated success as a recreation specialist strongly preferred;, • Demonstrated success as a middle school athletics coach strongly preferred;, • Experience as an athlete preferred;, • Experience working in a summer camp, youth development, recreation or athletics setting;, • Ability to uphold, promote, and model positive youth development principles;, • Experience with behavior management, including positive youth development, preferred;, • Ability to quickly problem-solve in the moment;, • Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting;, • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organization skills and attention to detail;, • Skilled problem-solver and self-starter;, • Bilingual (English/Spanish), a plus;, • A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community.Commitment, • Start date: 6/22/2026, • End date: 7/31/2026, • Days & hours: Monday-Thursday: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM, • Dates and hours are subject to changeLocations, • This position will report to one of DREAM's three campuses:, • East Harlem: 1991 2nd Avenue, New York, NY, • Highbridge: 1162 River Ave, Bronx, NY, • Mott Haven: 20 Bruckner Boulevard, Bronx, NYBenefits, • DREAM offers the following benefits to our part-time employees:, • 403(b) retirement plan, with employer matching up to 4% after one year of employment (12-month continuous period) in which you work a minimum of 1,000 hours;, • Disability benefits;, • Referral bonuses;, • Access to our Employee Discount Program, offering savings on travel, entertainment, retail, and more;, • High-performing part-time staff have the opportunity to apply for the DREAM Teaching Fellowship, through which they can earn a Bachelors or Masters degree and become full-time teachers at DREAM.Compensation If you are a current DREAM employee, please click here to review our Internal Selection Process before applying.
