Position Summary: BASIS Independent Brooklyn Upper is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Head Coach to lead our Girls' Middle School Volleyball program. The Head Coach will be responsible for all aspects of the middle school volleyball program, including but not limited to player development, strategic planning, team management, fostering a positive and competitive team culture, and ensuring the program aligns with the school's mission and values. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of volleyball techniques and strategies, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to the academic and personal growth of student-athletes. Responsibilities: * Develop and implement a comprehensive vision and philosophy for the girls' middle school volleyball program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic success. * Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices and training sessions that focus on fundamental skills, advanced techniques, game strategies, and physical conditioning. Provide constructive feedback and individualized instruction to student-athletes. * Develop and implement game strategies and tactics. Make informed decisions during competitions to maximize team performance. * Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive team environment that promotes strong relationships, accountability, and a commitment to team goals. * Prioritize the academic progress, physical health, and emotional well-being of all student-athletes. Serve as a positive role model and mentor. * Maintain clear and consistent communication with players, parents, and school administration. * Ensure adherence to all school policies, athletic department guidelines, league rules, and state athletic association regulations. * Oversee and mentor any assistant coaches, ensuring alignment with the program's philosophy and goals. * Stay current with coaching techniques, rule changes, and best practices in volleyball. Qualifications: * Previous successful coaching experience at the middle school level or equivalent * Comprehensive knowledge of volleyball techniques, strategies, and rules. * Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. * Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes. * Demonstrated commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes. * CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). * Successful completion of background checks and other required clearances. * Bachelor's degree preferred. ABOUT THE ROLE The Facilitator/Coach's primary responsibility is to facilitate professional learning and provide instructional coaching for educators and school leaders, with a focus on implementing high-quality instructional materials and research-based practices. NYJTL is the largest provider of youth tennis and education programs in the nation, providing services in 100 unique sites across all five boroughs while reaching nearly 90,000 kids. In addition, NYJTL designed, funded (with NYC), built and operates the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning in the South Bronx. All NYJTL community tennis and after school programs are offered at no cost to its participants. Position Summary: NYJTL is seeking a compassionate and skilled Part-Time Social Worker to support the emotional wellness of elementary-aged students in our school-based afterschool programs. This on-site role focuses on student mental health, staff support, and fostering a positive, trauma-informed school culture. The Social Worker will collaborate closely with the Site Director and afterschool team to implement restorative practices, provide short-term interventions, and lead small group sessions aligned with our Mental Health Skill Building curriculum.
