The Director/Associate Director of Marketing, High School plays a pivotal role in advancing one of Macmillan Learning’s most storied and strategically important portfolios. Building on a legacy of excellence and market leadership in high school educational publishing, this role champions the continued growth and preeminence of our brand in an evolving landscape. The Director/Associate Director of Marketing, High School sets a bold vision and clear strategy for how we engage teachers, support students, and strengthen our position as the preferred publishing and technology partner for school districts across the United States. As both a strategic leader and a hands-on marketer, the Director/Associate Director of Marketing, High School leads divisional marketing efforts, from centralized Platform initiatives, flagship market initiatives like APSI campaigns, district and school professional development programs to innovative, AI-enabled campaigns that extend our reach and impact. They hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering creativity, collaboration, and accountability, while also managing their own portfolio of products to model best-in-class marketing execution. Collaborating closely with sales, editorial, and cross-functional partners, the Director/Associate Director of Marketing, High School uses deep knowledge of the College Board ecosystem, emerging technologies, and high school market trends to shape campaigns that resonate across disciplines. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Strategic Visioning & Market Insight • Shapes and communicates a clear, competitive vision for the High School portfolio that aligns with Macmillan Learning’s overall strategy., • Leads the discovery and application of market research to inform product development, strengthen competitive positioning, and anticipate emerging opportunities., • Works closely with product, program management, and sales, the Director ensures marketing strategies reflect evolving classroom needs and market conditions., • Serving as both a strategist and hands-on marketer, managing marketing for cross-discipline key initiatives like programmatic Platform strategy, campaigns and sales enablement strategies that model best practices in execution, measurement, and cross-functional collaboration., • Ensures that the execution of divisional initiatives serve as a benchmark for quality, innovation, and results across the High School marketing function., • Travel to campus, company meetings, conferences, and events as needed to support cross-discipline marketing initiatives., • Hires, coaches, and develops high school discipline marketing managers, fostering a collaborative culture grounded in accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement., • Provide strategic direction and feedback on campaign planning while equipping the team with both core marketing skills and AI-supported processes, tools, and analytics., • Drives the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns that leverage organizational workflows and templates to increase speed, precision, and reach., • Identify opportunities to reuse, adapt, and optimize campaign assets across channels and disciplines, ensuring marketing efforts are scalable, data-driven, and aligned with brand and business goals., • Establishes and monitors KPIs to assess the effectiveness of campaigns, sales enablement efforts, and brand-building activities in the high school market., • Interpret performance data to identify trends, uncover opportunities, and guide strategic adjustments, applying these insights to both the products they directly manage and the broader portfolio., • Fostering a culture of measurement and learning, ensures that marketing strategies remain agile, evidence-based, and continually refined for greater impact.Qualifications Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree., • 5+ years of experience in marketing campaign execution., • Experience successfully communicating and presenting on complex topics to diverse stakeholders., • Demonstrated results from thinking creatively and strategically., • Experience working collaboratively across various department and groups., • Ability to travel up to 10 weeks per year., • Strong business perspective and ability to align actions and decisions with larger company strategy., • Ability to manage conflicting priorities with objectivity and tact., • Masters degree., • Prior experience in K-12 (preferably high school) education, publishing, or educational technology., • Ability to inspire and align cross-functional collaboration and support., • Proficient in these business systems: Microsoft Office, Google Business Suite, Marketo, Asana, Salesforce, and PowerBI., • Familiarity with AI-supported marketing workflows, tools, and analytics., • Passion for staying on the cutting edge of emerging marketing technologies. Exemption Status: Exempt Physical Requirements: This position requires long periods of concentration, sustained periods of work on laptop or computer, responding to sales or author inquiries, as well as to create marketing materials to aid in sales efforts. The director must be able to multi-task and must be able to travel occasionally, by automobile, train, and plane. The position occasionally requires lifting 35-50 lbs of books, and pushing/pulling a hand truck/dolly when setting up for sales meetings and conferences. The position is eligible for remote employment, excluding the following locations: Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wyoming.
