Job DescriptionJob Title: Construction Facilities Maintenance Helper Job Description This role supports a lead carpenter and renovation crew by performing a wide range of construction and facilities maintenance tasks on trailers returning from job sites. You will use hand and power tools daily, assist with remodeling and repairs, and handle basic carpentry, drywall, plumbing, painting, and light electrical work in an indoor facility environment. Responsibilities • Support the lead carpenter and renovation specialists with day-to-day construction and maintenance activities on trailers returning from job sites., • Gather and organize hand and power tools for the carpenter and crew, ensuring the correct tools are available when requested., • Assist with remodeling and repair work on trailers, including basic carpentry, framing, and structural adjustments as needed., • Perform basic drywall tasks such as hanging, patching, and finishing minor wall repairs., • Carry out basic PVC plumbing maintenance, including simple repairs and replacements under direction., • Assist with light electrical tasks, such as basic fixture, outlet, or component work under supervision., • Support painting and finishing work, including surface preparation, priming, and applying paint or coatings., • Help with general construction labor tasks such as cleaning work areas, moving materials, and setting up or breaking down workstations., • Follow all safety regulations and procedures, including wearing safety glasses at all times while working., • Communicate effectively with the lead carpenter and project leadership to understand daily priorities and task requirements., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the indoor facility., • Work required overtime during weekdays and Saturdays to meet workload demands and project timelines.Essential Skills, • Experience using hand tools and power tools such as wrenches, drills, saws, screwdrivers, and cordless drills., • Handyman skills in carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, and facilities maintenance., • At least 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance, subcontracting, general contracting, or a similar skilled trade environment (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting)., • 1–3 years of skilled trade or construction experience., • Ability to identify and properly use various types of hand tools and power tools when requested by the carpenter., • Basic carpentry skills, including assisting with framing, repairs, and general construction tasks., • Basic drywall skills, including simple installation, patching, and repair., • Basic PVC plumbing maintenance skills., • Basic light electrical skills under supervision., • Ability to follow safety regulations consistently, including wearing safety glasses at all times., • Willingness to work overtime on weekdays and Saturdays as required.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in construction labor, handyman work, or facilities maintenance., • Exposure to flooring, painting, and general building maintenance tasks., • Comfort working under the direction of a lead tradesperson and project leadership., • Strong attention to detail when handling tools, materials, and safety procedures., • Reliability and willingness to support a variety of skilled trades to expand knowledge and experience.Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a first-shift role, working Monday through Friday from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with regular overtime expected until about 5:00–5:30 p.m. on weekdays and an additional 3–5 hours of overtime on Saturdays. Work takes place indoors at a facility in Medford, focused on servicing trailers returning from construction sites. The environment is safety-focused, and you must wear safety glasses at all times and follow all safety regulations. You will work closely with a lead carpenter and project leadership in a collaborative, down-to-earth team atmosphere. The team fosters a welcoming culture and may provide personal protective gear such as jackets, glasses, and gloves to ensure you are equipped and comfortable on the job. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bay Shore, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
