Our client operates one of the world's largest energy delivery systems. This company provides electric, gas, and steam service to those who live in New York City and Westchester County. They are looking to add a Telecom Solutions Architect to their team. Salary/Hourly Rate: $80/hr - $100/hr DOE Position Overview: Our client is seeking a senior Telecom Solutions Architect to lead a mission-critical Channel Bank and legacy telecom retirement initiative. This role is accountable for both technical strategy and execution, operating as a hands-on subject matter expert while providing structured execution leadership across multiple stakeholders in a regulated utility environment. The Telecom Solutions Architect will evaluate existing legacy telecommunications systems, identify service dependencies, and design a phased migration approach to transition services from TDM-based technologies (Channel Bank, POTS, 56K, T1) to modern Ethernet, MPLS, fiber, and wireless solutions. Responsibilities of the Telecom Solutions Architect: • Lead end-to-end execution of legacy telecom retirement efforts from discovery through decommission., • Perform service inventory and dependency analysis, including demarcation and site constraints., • Develop migration phases, cutover plans, rollback strategies, and testing requirements., • Own or technically direct carrier engagement, including ordering, provisioning, turn-ups, and disconnects., • Coordinate execution across carriers, contractors, internal SMEs, operations teams, and leadership., • Lead cutover events, providing real-time technical oversight (on-site or remote as required)., • Maintain execution tracking, risk management, and status reporting using Microsoft 365 tools., • Drive formal service decommissioning and billing disconnects to ensure cost savings are realized., • Ensure adherence to change management and regulatory standards common to utility environments. Required Experience/Skills for the Telecom Solutions Architect:, • Ability to design phased migration strategies, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and testing approaches., • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, SharePoint, Teams), Visio, and Project for tracking and reporting., • Direct experience owning or technically directing carrier orders (ASRs, LSRs, provisioning, turn-ups, disconnects)., • Extensive expertise in legacy telecom infrastructure, including Channel Banks, POTS, 56K, and T1., • Hands-on leadership of cutover events with real-time technical decision making., • Proven leadership in end-to-end. telecom migrations and retirements in live production environments., • Strong stakeholder management skills across carriers, contractors, SMEs, and senior leadership., • Strong working knowledge of Ethernet, MPLS, E-Line, E-LAN, fiber, and wireless access. Preferred Experience/Skills for the Telecom Solutions Architect:, • Experience in utility or regulated environments., • Experience with telecom billing validation and cost recovery., • Exposure to SCADA, OT, or critical infrastructure communications., • Familiarity with ITIL-based change and incident management., • PMP or equivalent certification., • Solutions Architecture or Sales Engineering background with a carrier or network vendor.
