Essential Functions • Organizes, coordinates and manages the recruitment of volunteers for the various programs, committees and departments of the organization., • Works with social, civic and local organizations to develop partnerships, where appropriate, to develop and/or utilize volunteers., • Develops and implements training programs for all volunteers., • Maintains updated records on all volunteers (accurate data entry)., • Arrange and facilitate volunteer meetings. Report to staff on volunteer activities as needed., • Sign up, schedule and sometimes directly supervise volunteer tasks., • Recommends and develops ongoing volunteer utilization., • Develops and implements a volunteer recognition program., • Leadership, • Communication – Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Majority of work will be done in office in Levittown, some can be done remotely from home. However volunteer coordinator must occasionally travel to other nearby locations for recruitment of volunteers and management of volunteer projects (i.e. a volunteer recruitment fair at a local university or community event). Therefore it is important that the candidate can drive and has a vehicle. Travel is primarily local, within Nassau County and nearby areas (Suffolk, Queens). Out-of-the-area and overnight travel is not expected. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a part-time position with anticipated 10-20 hours per week - work load increases around special events. Days and hours of work may vary depending on job duties. Schedule can be somewhat flexible according to the employee's availability - but will require employee to be in main office in Levittown on a minimum of 1-2 days per week, time schedule may vary. Evening and weekend work may occasionally (not often) be required as job duties demand for special events or volunteer projects.
