Process Development Engineer • Location: Buffalo, NY, • Contract: 4 Months, • Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week, • Work Arrangement: Onsite About the Role We are seeking a Process Development Engineer to support product and process innovation within a leading food manufacturing environment. This role will focus on developing, optimizing, and improving food manufacturing processes to drive quality, consistency, efficiency, and cost savings. The Engineer will work within the Global Toppings, Creams, and Culinary Solutions Center of Excellence (TCCS COE) as part of the Research, Innovation, and Compliance (RIC) team. The position will support new product development, product renovation, process optimization, network standardization, and plant engineering initiatives. Key Responsibilities • Apply engineering and scientific methods to solve technical problems and execute projects., • Support the development and deployment of new technologies, products, processes, and equipment., • Research and evaluate potential solutions using equipment vendors, consultants, engineering teams, design groups, packaging suppliers, technical literature, patents, and other sources., • Identify and evaluate equipment and process solutions suitable for food/FMCG manufacturing., • Support manufacturing facilities with production-related technical issues and process improvements., • Provide technical support to cross-functional teams including Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, and external customers., • Present technical information and new or existing products to leadership and key stakeholders., • Provide technical leadership across product and process development initiatives., • Develop and optimize solutions that support financial objectives, operational efficiency, and profitability., • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and serve as a technical resource for current and future product/process projects. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field., • Preferably 5 years of industrial/applied research experience., • Demonstrated experience in product/process development or experimental design., • Experience identifying and/or specifying equipment for FMCG/food production., • Experience working directly with manufacturing facilities and supporting production-related issues., • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with dairy/non-dairy products and/or emulsion technology., • Background in process optimization and operational efficiency., • Experience designing and executing experiments or Design of Experiments (DOE) using bench-scale or pilot equipment., • Experience conducting independent research as well as working within cross-functional teams., • Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant field is a plus, but not required. Work Environment & Physical Requirements • Work may take place in laboratory, test kitchen, pilot plant, and production facility environments., • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs., • Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods., • Comfortable working around noise, odors, and elevated temperature/humidity when required., • Ability to distinguish differences in ingredients and materials through taste, smell, touch, and visual inspection., • Ability to operate laboratory and production equipment, including scales and balances., • May require occasional extended hours and participation in global meetings outside standard working hours., • Must follow all company associate and product safety procedures.
