About The Job As Director of SAP MDM/MDG , you will own the end-to-end strategy, design, and governance of master data across our global Life Sciences organization. Sitting within the Digital organization, you will serve as the definitive authority on master data quality, architecture, and lifecycle management, partnering with Manufacturing & Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, and Commercial to ensure data is a trusted, governed asset at every level of the enterprise. This is a high-visibility leadership role central to our strategic transformation from legacy MDM platforms to SAP S/4HANA. You will lead a team of experienced leads and specialists, drive cross-functional alignment, and shape the future of how our organization manages its most critical data domains: Material, Customer, Vendor, and Finance master data. Main Responsibilities Solution Design & Implementation Lead the end-to-end architecture and implementation of SAP MDG across Material, Customer, Vendor, and Finance master data domains. Define and own the target-state MDM/MDG solution design aligned with S/4HANA architecture principles and Life Sciences regulatory requirements (e.g., GxP, serialization). Oversee the full migration roadmap from legacy MDM solutions to SAP S/4HANA, including scoping, phasing, cutover planning, and hypercare. Collaborate with Solution Architects, Enterprise Architects, and domain leads to ensure seamless integration across SAP and non-SAP landscapes. Translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions, balancing short-term delivery with long-term platform sustainability. Governance & Data Stewardship Establish and evolve the enterprise Master Data Governance framework, including policies, standards, ownership models, and stewardship workflows. Chair and/or actively support Master Data Governance Boards and Steering Committees, engaging VP/C-level stakeholders across business functions. Define data domains, ownership hierarchies, and accountability models across Material, Customer, Vendor, and Finance master data. Drive compliance with internal data governance policies and applicable external regulations (e.g., GxP, IDMP, GDPR) within the master data space. Develop KPIs, SLAs, and data quality dashboards to track governance maturity and stewardship performance. Integration & Technical Ecosystem Own the integration strategy between SAP MDG and key upstream/downstream systems including ERP (S/4HANA), CRM, PLM, WMS, and external data providers. Ensure master data consistency and golden record management across all integrated platforms within the digital landscape. Partner with the Integration Center of Excellence (CoE) and Platform teams to define MDG APIs, data exchange protocols, and middleware configurations. Manage technical debt related to legacy master data processes and drive remediation as part of the S/4HANA program. Data Quality Management Design and implement enterprise-wide data quality frameworks, including profiling, cleansing, deduplication, and enrichment strategies. Define and enforce data quality rules, validation logic, and automated controls within SAP MDG workflows. Lead root cause analysis for recurring data quality issues and partner with business functions to implement sustainable corrective actions. Establish continuous improvement cycles using data quality metrics, driving measurable improvement in completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of master data. Transversal & Strategic Topics Act as a key liaison between the Digital organization and business functions (Manufacturing & Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Commercial), translating strategy into actionable master data roadmaps. Drive change management initiatives related to new MDG processes, system transitions, and governance operating models — ensuring high adoption and minimal disruption. Represent the Master Data function in global digital transformation programs, S/4HANA rollouts, and M&A integration activities. Contribute to the development of the Digital organization's long-term data strategy, including data mesh, data products, and AI/analytics readiness. Monitor industry trends, SAP roadmap updates, and emerging data management technologies to inform the function's evolution. About You Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field preferred. 15+ years of experience in Master Data Management or Data Governance, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role managing teams of teams. Demonstrated experience in the Life Sciences, Pharma, or MedTech industry is strongly preferred. SAP certifications in MDG, S/4HANA, or related modules are a plus. Fluent in English (Spanish is a plus); additional languages are an asset in a global organization. Leadership & Team Building Proven track record as a manager of managers — you've built, scaled, and inspired high-performing teams of MDM/data specialists and team leads. You lead with clarity and purpose, creating an environment where technical experts thrive and accountability is shared across the team. Experienced in defining team structures, hiring top talent, developing career paths, and managing performance in a global matrixed environment. Recognized as a people leader who builds psychological safety, fosters collaboration, and champions diversity of thought. Change Management & Stakeholder Influence Highly effective at navigating complex, multi-stakeholder environments — you're comfortable influencing VP and C-level executives without formal authority. Demonstrated experience leading large-scale change programs in data or ERP transformation contexts, with a structured approach to communication, training, and adoption. Skilled at translating technical data concepts into business impact language for non-technical audiences across Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Commercial. Known for building trust across organizational boundaries and turning skeptics into advocates for master data governance. SAP S/4HANA Migration Experience Deep hands-on experience with at least one full-cycle SAP S/4HANA migration, including master data migration strategy, data cleansing, cutover execution, and post-go-live stabilization. Familiar with S/4HANA data migration tools and methodologies (e.g., SAP Data Migration Cockpit, LTMC, migration objects) and their implications for master data. Understands the upstream/downstream data dependencies of S/4HANA in a Life Sciences context, including batch management, GxP validation, and regulatory data traceability. Technical SAP MDG/MDM Expertise Expert-level knowledge of SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) — including configuration, workflow design, data replication, and consolidation scenarios. Strong understanding of SAP master data objects: Material Master (MM), Customer/Vendor (BP), and Finance Master Data (GL accounts, cost centers, profit centers). Experience with SAP MDG editions (SAP MDG on S/4HANA) and integration with SAP BTP, SAP Data Services, or equivalent data quality tooling. Solid understanding of MDM architecture patterns: hub-based, registry, and consolidation — with the ability to guide architecture decisions based on business context. Familiarity with Life Sciences-specific data requirements: product master, serialization (EPCIS), IDMP compliance, and GxP data integrity principles is a strong plus. Why us?
