The Programme Phi Partners has been engaged to support a new Calypso implementation at a leading financial institution based in Paris. This is a greenfield deployment, with the integration workstream representing one of the most technically complex and business-critical components of the programme. The integration layer spans back-office operations, messaging infrastructure, transfer generation, and connectivity with a broad range of internal and external systems, requiring an experienced leader who can define the architecture, coordinate the team, and ensure delivery to the highest standards. The programme is operating on an on-site basis in Paris, reflecting the importance of close collaboration with business, functional, infrastructure, and vendor teams throughout the implementation lifecycle. The Senior Calypso Integration Developer will take end-to-end ownership of the integration stream, from initial architecture and interface design through to SIT, UAT, and production deployment. Roles and Responsibilities As Senior Calypso Integration Developer, you will lead the integration workstream for the Calypso implementation, combining hands-on technical delivery with architectural leadership and team coordination. You will be the primary point of expertise for all integration-related decisions and accountable for the quality and completeness of the integration layer. Key responsibilities include: • Lead the integration team for the new Calypso installation project., • Design and implement end-to-end integration solutions between Calypso and internal/external systems., • Define integration architecture, data flows, and interface specifications., • Develop, customise, and maintain Calypso interfaces and connectivity components., • Oversee message workflows, transfer generation processes, and back-office integrations., • Collaborate closely with business analysts, functional teams, infrastructure, and external vendors., • Ensure compliance with architecture standards, security policies, and performance requirements., • Support SIT, UAT, and production deployment activities., • Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration and production issues., • Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance within the integration stream., • Contribute to documentation, technical design artefacts, and development best practices., • Manage integration-related dependencies with other programme workstreams, proactively identifying and resolving risks. Key Skills Essential: • 8+ years of Calypso experience (V16 onwards preferred), with a demonstrable track record of leading integration streams on large-scale implementations., • Deep expertise in Calypso back-office functions: transfer generation, settlement workflows, accounting, messaging, and connectivity architecture., • Strong knowledge of financial products across loans, debt instruments (bonds, commercial papers, certificates of deposit), derivatives (interest rate swaps, cross-currency swaps), money market instruments (deposits, repos, reverse repos), securities (sovereigns, agencies, corporates, covered bonds), and fiduciary accounts., • Proficiency in Java 8+ development within the Calypso environment, including customisation and extension patterns., • Hands-on experience with integration technologies: MQ, Kafka, XML, FpML, FIX, REST/SOAP APIs, JMS (ActiveMQ / MQSeries), and Spring framework., • Experience with Calypso Integration Toolkit (REST/SOAP Web Services) and Calypso Gateway (GTW) for external interfaces including Swift, FIX, and Murex., • Strong database skills across Oracle SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and/or PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimisation, PL/SQL / T-SQL, and stored procedure development., • Experience with XML/XSLT message transformation., • Experience working in Unix/Linux environments, including scripting and system-level troubleshooting., • Proven ability to lead and mentor a development team within a structured programme delivery context., • Excellent communication skills in both French and English, daily interaction with business, functional, infrastructure, and vendor stakeholders on site in Paris. Nice-to-Have: • Expertise in Temenos is a plus., • Experience integrating Calypso with SWIFT messaging infrastructure or other market-standard financial messaging protocols., • Familiarity with Calypso cloud deployment models or containerised infrastructure environments., • Exposure to regulatory reporting workstreams (EMIR, MiFID II, SFTR) and their integration implications within a Calypso context., • Prior experience on a greenfield Calypso implementation, as opposed to upgrade or migration engagements., • Knowledge of DevOps tooling and CI/CD pipelines within a Java-based development environment Next Steps We are always on the lookout for talented professionals who thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
