Biogas Technical Director Location: Paris, France Sector: Biogas Our client is a rapidly expanding organisation operating at the forefront of the global energy transition. With active business lines spanning biogas, energy storage, hydrogen, thermal efficiency, and advanced low‑carbon technologies, they are accelerating their international growth and strengthening their leadership team. To support this expansion, we are seeking an experienced Technical Director to lead the technical strategy and execution of their biogas and energy storage portfolio. About the Role Acting as a senior technical authority, the Technical Director will oversee the full lifecycle of biogas and storage projects—from early‑stage feasibility and investment analysis through to engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the client’s investment, development, and project management teams, playing a pivotal role in technology selection, supplier evaluation, and technical risk management across multiple geographies. Key Responsibilities • Provide the investment team with technical assessments for new opportunities at development, construction, and operational stages., • Lead the design and detailed engineering of biogas projects in collaboration with external engineering partners., • Identify and select the most suitable technologies and equipment suppliers based on project and regulatory requirements., • Manage procurement processes and negotiate EPC and O&M contracts to ensure technical compliance, cost control, and timely delivery., • Supervise construction activities, commissioning, handover, and transition to ongoing operations., • Develop and implement strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks., • Support development teams with feasibility studies, lifecycle analysis, and optimisation of technical and economic performance., • Monitor industry developments, innovation, and regulatory changes within anaerobic digestion and gas valorisation., • Build and maintain strong relationships with key equipment suppliers and technology partners. Skills & Experience • Proven expertise in the engineering and procurement of anaerobic digestion infrastructure., • Practical experience operating and maintaining anaerobic digestion units., • Strong track record in managing complex technical projects in the renewable energy sector., • Solid understanding of standards and practices for gas injection and related infrastructure., • Ability to evaluate technology providers, equipment performance, guarantees, and contract structures., • Deep knowledge of anaerobic digestion technologies and long‑term performance considerations across diverse feedstocks. Desired Profile • Degree or Master’s qualification in Energy Engineering, Process Engineering, Biology/Chemistry (with anaerobic digestion focus), or a related field., • 10–15 years’ experience in engineering, design, procurement, and operations within biogas/AD projects., • Strong autonomy, technical rigour, and adaptability within a fast‑growing international environment., • Fluency in spoken and written English.
