Key Responsibilities The Senior Commissioning Manager will lead and oversee all commissioning activities for grid-connected energy projects across Europe, including BESS and wind projects. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient energisation of assets onto distribution and transmission networks, while maintaining strong coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders such as TSOs and DSOs. Commissioning Leadership & Execution • Lead commissioning activities for projects connecting to Distribution (33kV–132kV) and Transmission networks (110kV–400kV), • Oversee end-to-end commissioning processes including pre-commissioning, energisation, and post-commissioning phases, • Ensure all commissioning activities are delivered safely, on schedule, and in compliance with project requirements, • Define and implement commissioning strategies aligned with internal standards and international frameworks (CIGRE, IEC, IEEE), • Ensure full compliance with grid codes, safety rules, and utility-specific requirements across European markets, • Lead quality assurance and ensure adherence to commissioning procedures, documentation, and reporting standards, • Lead engagement with Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and Distribution System Operators (DSOs) across Europe, • Manage relationships and technical alignment with key stakeholders including system planning, outage planning, control centers, and asset management teams, • Coordinate and lead Commissioning Supervisory Panels and joint outage planning meetings with external stakeholders, • Manage generator grid connection processes in line with ENTSO-E requirements, including:, • Energisation approvals, • Interim, Limited, and Final Operational Notifications (ION/LON/FON), • Ensure Commercial Operation Date (COD) milestones align with energisation schedules, • Oversee certification processes required for participation in ancillary services markets, • Provide expert guidance to Project Development and Project Delivery teams on HVAC/HVDC systems, commissioning risks, and execution strategies, • Support development of:, • Outage Plans, • Energisation Plans, • Contingency Plans, • Advise on Stage-by-Stage energisation diagrams, metering during construction, and commissioning methodologies, • Lead and manage commissioning teams, including line management, structure, and capability development, • Drive a strong culture of Safety, Health & Wellbeing (HSE) across all commissioning activities, • Work closely with TSOs across Europe, including but not limited to:, • Germany: Amprion, TransnetBW, TenneT, 50Hertz, • France: RTE, • UK: National Grid, Scottish Power, SSEN and other DNOs, • Stay up to date with evolving European grid codes, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices Qualifications Must-have: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred), • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in commissioning, grid integration, or power system engineering within renewable or infrastructure projects, • Proven experience in commissioning projects connected to transmission networks (110kV–400kV), • Strong experience working with European TSOs/DSOs and understanding of grid code compliance, • Deep technical expertise in HVAC and/or HVDC systems and grid connection requirements, • Strong knowledge of commissioning processes, energisation sequencing, and power system operations, • Solid understanding of ENTSO-E requirements and generator connection procedures, • Experience in outage planning, system coordination, and network security management, • Strong stakeholder management skills across utilities, regulators, and internal teams, • Ability to lead complex, multi-party coordination in high-pressure environments, • Knowledge and experience with wider EU countries, for example: Germany-Experience working with TSOs such as Amprion, TransnetBW, TenneT, or 50Hertz. France-Experience working with RTE. UK-Familiarity with National Grid requirements and DNOs (e.g. Scottish Power, SSEN)
