Breakfast and After School Club Play worker required - Location- Lee Common CofE School, Chesham. Duties include- Supervision of children, daily paperwork, food/snack preparation. Also supervision and participation in games and activities- outdoor sports, creative arts, cooking activities, science experiments, group games, adult lead group discussions and much more. Hours: The role holder must be available to work Monday to Friday, covering the core hours of 3.30pm – 6.15pm when we are working directly with our young people during term time, totalling 13.75 hours per week. ABOUT THE SWAN YOUTH PROJECT The Swan Youth Project (SYP) Limited is a Berkhamsted based registered charity which offers 11-16+ years old of Berkhamsted and the surrounding area, a safe and secure recreational facility within which they can relax and socialise away from the stresses of school or home life. To support them in this we provide a daily drop-in facility with organised activities at the centre as well as holiday programmes, workshops, music gigs and so much more. The SYP centre is well equipped with a DJ booth, pool table, table football, Internet room, chill-out room, Wii & Xbox, coffee bar and a fully equipped band practice room. A free snack and hot drink are offered to all members (some of whom may not have eaten all day). ABOUT THE ROLE: You will help plan, execute and engage in activities that enhance member development. Duties will include: 1. Running daily sessions both in the centre and offsite activities / trips, 2. Assist with the planning and set up of specific activities, 3. Engage and build positive relationships with young people, responding appropriately to challenging situations, 4. Create a calm and safe environment for both the young people and the staff., 5. All team members take on a share of the activities required for the smooth running of the centre; i.e. running our social media channels, fundraising, timely completion of all required centre checks ABOUT YOU: Ideally, you will have some experience working with young people; this could be through volunteer work, youth coaching, or as part of a formal qualification route. Full training will be given to develop you on this rewarding career path. We specialise in offering the best possible facilities, care and exercise to our dog daycare and boarding clients and also in our cattery, Lily’s Luxury Retreat. This role requires someone to work a shift from 6:45 am to 1 pm therefore you must live locally to Chalfont Saint Giles and have your own transport. The important part of this role is that your circumstances allow for occasional weekend work if needed and for housesitting when the owners are away which is well remunerated. Due to the dynamics of this role there is room for leeway on the number of hours worked ,either less or more in order to find somebody who can fulfil the main needs of this role. Applicants need to display a confident, can do attitude with hands-on experience in handling and caring for groups of dogs and a keenness to work with cats as well. You will receive a full induction into the position and ongoing training, even so if you have no experience then this is not the job for you. You must be capable of working to a very high standard on your own and within a team, with excellent communication with your peers, clients and management. An essential requirement of this job is to be reliable and punctual at all times with the ability to work under pressure on occasion , outdoors in all weathers with a happy smile.😀 You must demonstrate experience working with dogs and/or cats in a professional environment. This could be another daycare, a kennels, a cattery, veterinary practice or similar. Simply owning your own dog and having an interest or a passion for animals is unfortunately not sufficient to be considered for this role.
