This is the job that holds a shift together. You'll be on the floor and behind the bar, making sure service flows, guests are looked after, and the team has what it needs to do their best work. You're the link between the team and senior leaders: the person who spots the problem before it becomes one, and the one people come to when something needs sorting. We're after someone who is open, honest, straight-talking, and genuinely good with people. On the right evening the cloud sits below the glass and the room feels genuinely untethered from the city underneath it. That is where you'd be making drinks. The Observatory is London's highest piano & cocktail lounge. Live piano, a proper cocktail list, and a food menu built to be eaten slowly with friends. We opened just over a year ago and have spent that time turning it into something people are quietly protective of. We're now looking for a Bar Manager to take charge of the bar and carry that on. 🎹 THE VENUE The Observatory sits at the top of Wardian, exclusively for the residents of the two towers below it. Around 2,000 people have access, and a good number of them are in every week. That changes the job completely. You're not turning over strangers. You're building a room of regulars who know your name and expect you to know theirs, and who will tell you honestly what they think of the new menu. It has the warmth of a members' club without any of the stiffness. The bar itself is the centerpiece of the venue and deliberately so. That means the Bar Manager here spends most of their time exactly where they should be: behind the bar, making drinks, talking to guests, with an eye across the whole venue. This is not a role that disappears into an office. Live piano is weekly and our signature 'Piano Plates' are a tapas-style sharing menu designed to be picked at across a long evening with a cocktail in the other hand. Food runs seven days. 🥃 YOUR CRAFT, VALUED If you care about what goes in the glass, you'll be somewhere it counts. We want someone with genuine opinions about dilution, about garnish, about the difference between a drink that's technically correct and one that's actually good. We are looking for experienced self-employed cleaners to join our team as we grow. This is for you, if you are a hardworking, motivated and reliable cleaner, and want the following: • Scheduled cleaning work: 2.5 hours/day, subject to availability. Hours may vary weekly., • Evening shifts: Monday - Friday, and some Sundays (from 5pm)., • 1 Site (No multiple locations to travel to)., • A supportive, friendly admin., • Clear checklists and systems to make your work easy., • Cleaning equipment and consumables provided on site. What You’ll Be Doing • Perform detailed cleaning (according to specifications), including: Dusting/wiping surfaces (furniture, equipment, skirting, window sills, glass etc), vacuuming and mopping, emptying and relining bins, disposing waste in designated bins etc., • Areas to clean: Entrance, Meeting rooms, Offices, toilets, reception, corridors/stairs, Lift, kitchen etc., • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times, and show care in representing us., • Adhere to the cleaning specification and checklist/frequency for each area., • Adhere to security, Health and Safety, and other operational guidelines., • Replenish stock for the kitchen and toilets., • Note stock levels weekly and report., • Report any issues and maintain effective communication., • Be punctual and Check-in/Check-out efficiently. What We’re Looking For • Experience in commercial cleaning (preferred), and strong work ethic., • Genuinely self-employed and responsible for your own National Insurance and tax., • Current DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one., • Demonstrate punctuality, attention to detail, reliability and a friendly demeanour., • Effective time management and ability to work independently., • Able to clean according to agreed specification., • Live near Dartford and surrounding areas, or have reliable transportation., • Right to work in the United Kingdom.
