Principal Geotechnical Engineer Bristol or Cardiff Permanent | Full-Time | Hybrid working (3 days in office) An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join a well-established multidisciplinary consultancy with a strong pipeline of civil and structural projects across the UK and overseas. My client has seen continued growth and is now looking for a Chartered (or Senior) Geotechnical Engineer to take a leading role in supporting planning and engineering teams on a diverse portfolio of work - from early-stage development and ground engineering assessments to detailed design. The Role You'll take responsibility for specifying, managing, and interpreting ground investigations, delivering geotechnical assessments, and developing design solutions for a variety of infrastructure and building projects. The work is varied - some commissions are standalone ground engineering projects, while others form part of wider civil and structural design schemes. Typical responsibilities include: • Preparing and reviewing geotechnical reports and assessments, • Conducting proof-of-concept checks, slope stability, and settlement analyses, • Designing foundations, cuttings, embankments, and retaining structures, • Developing earthworks specifications and mitigation measures for legacy mining sites, • Degree in Civil Engineering or Geology with a postgraduate qualification in Geotechnical Engineering, • Chartered status (CEng or equivalent), • Strong technical understanding of EC7 and UK design codes, • Proficient in geotechnical software (Rocscience and Geo5 preferred), • Experience preparing drawings (ARC GIS and CAD desirable), • Excellent communication and report-writing skills, • Confident managing client relationships and leading design delivery Apply now or get in touch with Roberto Sartori on 07437837855 for a confidential chat.
