Job Details: Midweight Retoucher – MAY Salary: £30–35K Dependant on Experience Contract: Permanent, Full Time Overview MAY has an exciting opportunity for a talented Midweight Retoucher to join our growing team of creative digital artists in our London office. You will work closely with our Senior Retoucher, Creative Director, and Production Manager, contributing to high-end projects while developing your skills within an established post-production environment. You will be working with leading brands and clients across the high-end fashion and luxury sector, from editorials to cultural projects and large-scale campaigns. With over 15 years in the industry, MAY has an inspiring roster of clients and a renowned reputation for distinctive, refined aesthetics. Working in association with May Print, a drum-scanning and print house, as well as Have a Butchers, our gallery and concept store, our studio serves as a holistic and dynamic creative hub. Our ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience working in post production, ideally including studio or agency settings. You will have strong technical retouching abilities, a solid understanding of commercial workflows, and a keen eye for detail. You should be confident in delivering polished, high-quality imagery while following structured internal processes and meeting deadlines. This is a fast-paced and collaborative role where you will respond accurately to feedback, contribute to team output, and uphold consistently high standards across all deliverables. Job Description • Deliver high-quality retouching and colour-corrected imagery for a wide range of print and digital projects, • Work to consistently high standards with efficient turnaround times, • Demonstrate strong colour matching and cosmetic retouching skills, • Create clean, seamless composite imagery with attention to detail, • Follow established workflows and show initiative within the role, • Support the Senior Retoucher and senior team members as needed, • Meet daily output targets set by Production, • Carry out basic calibration checks and support maintenance routines within the department, • Liaise with the Production team daily to coordinate priorities and deadlines, • Suggest improvements to workflow where relevant, • Assist in onboarding or training new freelancers when required, • While the core workweek is Monday to Friday, some evening or weekend work may be necessary depending on project schedules, • Work within a shift-based system to help provide coverage for New York hours, with certain days requiring later working times. These shifts are always planned in advance with full consideration and flexibility around individual work-life balance and personal schedules, • Ability to stay calm, organised, and professional in high-pressure environments Key Responsibilities • Retouch product, campaign, and editorial imagery to a consistent and professional standard, • Ensure accurate colour consistency between images and physical products, • Follow internal file naming conventions and server organisation, • Work in line with creative direction set by the client and overseen by Production, • Maintain clean, organised digital asset structures and upload assets to web servers, • Prepare round jpegs, high-resolution files, and final deliverables following specific size, spec, and crop guidelines, • Take a consistent approach when editing large sets of imagery, • Perform quality checks on all imagery, including providing internal markups when needed, • Ensure personal workloads are completed to daily and weekly deadlines, • Collaborate with the wider Retouch and Production teams to continuously improve output and efficiency, • Provide support to colleagues working across both London and New York projects, • Liaise with other departments involved in the studio workflow, • Keep Production updated regularly on progress and productivity Development of the Role • Take a proactive approach in suggesting improvements, new methods, or ideas that enhance MAY’s service, • Work as a team player to support the continued development of the Retouch department, • Collaborate with the Creative Director and Senior Retoucher on training and growth opportunities, • Potential for hybrid or remote working depending on project structure, • This role offers progression opportunities with the potential to grow into a Senior Retoucher position based on performance, initiative, and leadership qualities We would love to hear from you if you think this role could be suitable for you!
