School Care Taker\n\nHourly Rate: from £14.82\nHours: Part‑time, 06:45 AM - 10:45 AM (Mon-Fri)\nRequirements: Enhanced DBS & Full UK Driving Licence\nLocation: Leeds, LS7\nContract: Temp to Perm\n\nAre you a skilled tradesperson or experienced care taker looking for a hands‑on role where your technical ability makes a real impact? We're recruiting a School Care Taker to take ownership of the maintenance, safety, and smooth running of a busy school site. This is a long‑term position with a clear path to becoming permanent for the right person.\n\nThe Role\n\nThis is a hands‑on, trade‑heavy facilities role. You'll be responsible for ensuring the site, buildings, and grounds are safe, compliant, and well maintained.\n\nPractical Maintenance & Maintenance Work\n\nCarrying out general repairs, fault‑finding and day‑to‑day maintenance across the school site.\nIdentifying issues, arranging appropriate repairs, and completing smaller works yourself.\nSafely using and maintaining tools, equipment, and materials.\nTechnical Responsibilities\n\nManaging and checking building systems including alarms, CCTV, and fire safety equipment.\nSupporting emergency call‑outs when needed.\nMaintaining accurate compliance records and ensuring the site meets Health & Safety standards.\nConducting and reviewing regular Health & Safety checks and risk assessments.\nOperational & Team Responsibilities\n\nLeading and supporting site and cleaning staff, including delegating tasks and monitoring performance.\nCoordinating external contractors and ensuring safe working practices on site.\nSupporting school operations such as deliveries, events, lettings and practical site logistics.\nIf you enjoy varied days, problem‑solving, and using your trade skills to improve a site, this role will suit you perfectly.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\n\nExperience in facilities, maintenance, caretaking, or a skilled trade (e.g. plumbing, electrical, joinery, construction).\nStrong knowledge of Health & Safety and general site compliance.\nPractical problem‑solving skills and the ability to work efficiently and independently.\nConfidence working with contractors, staff and leadership teams.\nGood communication, organisation and record‑keeping skills.\nPhysically able to carry out manual tasks such as lifting, carrying and general repair work
