The Dovecote Inn in Laxton is looking for a passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen in delivering high-quality pub dining with a unique flare. This is an exciting opportunity to take full creative and operational ownership of a kitchen with a great reputation and strong local support, with the support of our General Manager. We took over The Dovecote 10 months ago and are looking for someone to bring their creative flare to help us expand business beyond the local villages, and to incorporate weddings and events into the operation, working alongside our General Manager to achieve this. ROLE OVERVIEW Work Location The Dovecote Inn, Laxton, Notts, NG22 0SX Reporting to General Manager RESPONSIBILITIES - Plan and create seasonal menus using fresh, locally sourced ingredients - Lead and develop a small kitchen team and expand this alongside the business needs, ensuring high performance and morale - Prepare and present food to a consistently high standard - Manage food ordering, stock rotation, and supplier relations - Maintain all food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards - Control food costs and work within agreed budgets, cost and pricing of the menu - Collaborate with the pub's management and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service REQUIRMENTS - Previous experience as a Head Chef or experienced Sous Chef ready to step up - Strong knowledge of traditional British cuisine and seasonal menu planning - Excellent leadership and team management skills - Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment - Level 3 Food Hygiene certification (or willing to obtain) - Passion for food, people, and hospitality. The desire to make a mark on an expanding business. Pay Rate negotiable depending on experience.
