Laser Punch Operator \n New opportunity at this busy sheet metal fabrication company for someone to operate this Amada Laser Punch combination machine. You will produce high-quality components to drawing specifications, and contribute to a safe, efficient workshop environment. \n This role can be offered on a day, late or night shift and the company has flexibility to adjust start and finish times to suit. \n \n Key responsibilities \n • Set up, program and operate Amada Laser Punch equipment for sheet metal production runs \n • Interpret engineering drawings, nesting plans and work orders accurately \n • Load tooling, fixtures and materials; adjust machine parameters for material type and thickness \n • Monitor production for quality; perform in-process inspections and final checks \n • Carry out basic preventative maintenance and routine cleaning of machines \n • Report faults and work with maintenance to resolve issues quickly to minimise downtime \n • Maintain accurate production records, timesheets and material usage logs \n • Follow health & safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives \n \n Required skills and experience \n • Proven experience operating Amada Laser Punch machines \n • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and tooling \n • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and CNC programmes \n • Competent in basic machine setup, tool changes and minor troubleshooting \n • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts \n • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team \n • Physically able to handle materials and stand for extended periods \n \n This is a permanent role with a starting salary dependant on experience and shift. This role will suit someone with at least 2-3 years of experience as a service engineer wanting to develop a career in a high-tech industry. Software, Controls and IT Knowledge • Good general computer literacy and confidence using Windows-based operating systems., • Experience with industrial machine control software and operator interfaces., • Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot machine software and control systems., • Understanding of PLC software, CNC controls and industrial automation systems., • Ability to configure machine parameters, settings and operating programmes., • Understanding of data communication between machine hardware, software and control systems., • Ability to provide remote technical support and assist customers with software-related issues. International working requirements • Willingness to travel internationally, sometimes at short notice., • Comfortable working away from home for extended periods., • Flexible approach to working hours to accommodate international customers., • Full UK driving licence., • Valid passport and ability to travel internationally., • Good written and spoken English.
