Commercial Litigation Solicitor (2+ Years PQE) – Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department Job Description Glenville Walker, a specialist business law firm based in Liverpool, is seeking a Commercial Litigation Solicitor (2+ PQE) to join our Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution department. Our Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution department is highly regarded, advising owner-managed businesses, corporates, directors and shareholders, investors, lenders, landlords/tenants and individuals on business-critical disputes. The team is presently handling, and is regularly instructed to deal with, high-value and complex pieces of litigation. Whilst we are specifically business law specialists, our professional network is wide, we work closely with corporate finance and general business advisory professionals to advance clients goals across both the SME and national market. This role will join an highly experienced disputes team that provides specialist commercial litigation and dispute resolution advice, always striving to exceed clients' expectations. You will be given early responsibility with appropriate supervision, direct client contact and the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing growth of the department. Candidates should have 2+ years PQE and be keen to build their technical and commercial skills in a firm which champions the internal progression of its team members. Successful candidates will be able to manage their own caseload with appropriate supervision, demonstrating sound judgment, commercial awareness and a calm approach under pressure. Key responsibilities: The firm is looking for a permanent full-time Commercial Litigation Solicitor to join the Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution department based in Liverpool, handling a broad range of commercial disputes. You will work closely with partners, while running appropriate matters day-to-day and supporting on larger, more complex disputes. You will deal with a broad client base covering many industry sectors; the sheer level of variety will make for an interesting caseload. Matters may include (but are not limited to) contractual disputes, debt recovery, professional negligence claims, shareholder/director disputes, injunctions, contentious probate, property-related disputes (including lease and dilapidations issues), insolvency matters and other business-critical disputes. You will be supported to develop your technical knowledge and practical skills while working on your caseload. Daily tasks will involve: · Manage a varied caseload of commercial litigation matters from instruction through to settlement and, where necessary, trial, keeping to court timetables and internal deadlines. · Draft and advise on pre-action correspondence, letters before claim/responses, and strategic settlement proposals. · Prepare and draft pleadings and court documents including claim forms, particulars of claim, defences, replies and other statements of case applications (including interim relief where required). · Advise on and manage disclosure, witness evidence and (where relevant) expert evidence, including instructions to counsel and experts. · Attend hearings, mediations and settlement meetings as required, and support on trial preparation. · Maintain excellent client communication, providing clear commercial advice on merits, strategy, costs and risk. · Record time accurately, manage billing and ensure compliance with file management, AML and regulatory requirements. · Support business development and profile-raising activity, including networking, client care and contributing to marketing content where appropriate. The ideal candidate will have: • Qualified solicitor with 2+ years PQE gained in commercial litigation/dispute resolution (or equivalent), with experience managing matters with appropriate supervision., • A strong understanding of the CPR and pre-action protocols, with practical experience of drafting pleadings and applications., • Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and commercially., • Experience dealing with clients directly and building trusted relationships through responsive, pragmatic advice., • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment., • Commercial awareness and an interest in contributing to business development initiatives and the growth of the disputes team., • Confidence using Microsoft Office and case management systems; experience with e-disclosure platforms is an advantage.
